    RFY shocks.

Anyone have experience with RFY shocks? Part number is QR 2B 340. Don?t know much about them but they are new in box I got with a stash of parts that came with an 81 1100E. Previous owner ordered them for it but never opened the box.A3E457E9-5064-4884-8E91-6BB93AE46687.jpg

From what I've read they are decent, assuming everything is working as intended. Some claim the build quality is somewhat inconsistent in terms of oil fill and oil quality is questionable. This guy offers tuning for these shocks and there is a lot of positive feedback from the shocks he's reworked. http://chrislivengood.net/wp/

I have used a set - reasonably decent but a little harsh & a heavy spring as stock. The machining is good but I couldn't say anything about the quality of aluminium material used.
They would be better than a worn out set of stock or similar

              +1 on that.

We got a set of Chris?s modified RFY shocks for a friend?s GT250 cafe build. Springs were too stiff for that light bike + a light rider.
Ended up using the shocks on my GT380 cafe build. They are fine for that heavier bike + heavy rider.

I talked to Chris about this after those builds. Not sure but he might be able to setup the shocks for lighter bikes + riders.

I installed a set on my girlfriends Nighthawk 750. Was so impressed that I ordered and installed a set on my GS1000. Both rides are better at all speeds and conditions. The clevis on mine was a little tight but easily rectified with a small grinder.

You have any pics of the GT250 cafe? I built a 73 back in the late 70s. Would like to find another one now.

Tried fitting them while I had things apart and they don?t fit unless I take off the helmet lock and maybe the lift bar. Anyone else run into this?

I picked up an in the box set off Letgo for $50 buck and installed them on an 82 650L scrambler project I'm working on. It raised the rear an inch and a half and fit just fine. I can't tell how they work until I have the bike together, but I run 235-242 depending if I hit the buffet or not. Time will tell if they work well, but they sure look cool now. Now where can I get those stickers?
