GS750E master cylinder issue

Hi folks, I'm in the process of freshening up my '78 GS750E and have struck a problem with the master cylinder.
I can't for the life of me see where to hook into the circlip that holds the plunger into the body.
I can't see any small tags with holes that would normally indicate a circlip.
I doubt anything has been done to the m/c since new as there's a lot of surface corrosion in the area.
Any ideas anyone? TIA

I had to spray with a lot of brake-clean and scrub with a long wire rush to finally see the holes in the circlip when I redid my MC. Couldn't get my circlip pliers to bite and had to modify a pair of needle nose pliers to finally dig it out. For such a small job, it can be a real pain.

Thanks for the info Rich. I'll persevere and see if I can get things happening!

EDIT: after lots of soaking, and a modicum of brute force, I've managed to remove the circlip and the piston/cup assembly. Thanks Rich!

After cleaning it all up, the new one will go in like butter. You'll wonder what all the fuss was about.
