Tire-wheel, possibly brake swap 96 750 Kat to 82 GS1100E
Has anyone here ever swapped 1996 Katana 750 wheels onto an 82 GS1100E. The wheels have fresh Shinko tires 160/60ZR on the rear, and Shinko 120/70ZR on the front. I was worried about the tire possibly hitting the chain on the rear. I can make custom spacers if needed. Any insight on the brakes would be great. At a quick glance it looks like custom caliper mounts would need to be fabricated. I am not sure if the fitting of these parts is more trouble than it is worth.Tags: None -
That’s the 4.5” wheel isn’t it... 160’s been done lots of times. I ran a 170 on a 5.5” wheel on my 750, that was a bit of a struggle.
I believe Posplayer’s 1100 ran a 4.5” wheel1980 GS1000G - Sold

A quick measurement makes it look like it will work. I need to look at the brakes and axle diameters, all that little stuff is what makes these swaps challenging.Comment
