82 gs650 rear master cylinder substitutes?

big mistake and ill never do this again but when i first got the bike I threw away the rear master cylinder, almost a year and a half later I still haven't made a solution. I've thought of making a custom mounting frame so a aftermarket master cylinder could sit a few inches back not interfering with the airbox, but I really don't know where to start with that. ill provide a picture of the mount design and if there's any lead to a solution let me know! part of part #1

Why not just get a replacement from EBay?

I got two from eBay parts lots.... for spares if needed.... both corroded and deemed useless. So beware!
there are Chinese ones that appear adaptable, but mounting points would need altering for the 650...

I used one from an EX300. Looks like it's a bit of a different mounting on your 650 though... I'm sure it could somehow still be made to work

Ebay usually serves me well (if you know to go through the stuff you buy) but I couldn't find even a listing for the master cylinder while I was on the search, and with a part like a rear master cylinder yeah it might not be the wisest to get a used one off ebay with it being such a unique one, not many examples of them left.

I messaged the guy who said he has one laying around!

Maybe that guy still has your address from sending shims earlier this year, and maybe he'll just say Merry Christmas and ship the part to you.

This was on a parts bike out back. Looks to be in good shape. It won't be there by Christmas, but should be there before the New Year.

There's a banjo bolt, 8mm reservior mounting bolt, pin and washer to connect the linkage, but you'll need a cotter pin.

I only had one mounting bolt for the MC. The other one left Albuquerque on Mr Hedges' 850 a while back.

                  Merry Christmas

Hardly. We can really thank Tom Kent. I raided his stash of GS stuff before it went to the scrap yard. What comes around goes around.

Someday, maybe I'll get around to organizing a parts for sale thread....maybe. For now I just watch for folks that need something I may have.
