Tire and swing arm
I have a 76 GS 750, What is the widest tire I can put on the stock rim and in the swing arm? Also what would I have to do to run a modern sport bike tire and rim? Also can anyone point me in the direction for an extended swingarm?Tags: None -

You'd need an 1100E swingarm with a conversion bush for the swingarm bearings. A 4.5" Katana wheel with a GS550 Sprocket drive hub & an offset front sprocket. 530 chain conversion. You'll also need to modify the brake tie arm.
A 160 tire is the biggest without even more modifications but it can be done. How much money & time do you want to spend & how good an engineer are you?
Here's a 750 SPecial I built a few years ago from an 83 model. This was running a 170 on a 5.5" wheel.

A wider tire is mostly for looks. Modern tires are far superior to what was available "back in the day", so the 120 that Big T suggested will work quite well.
As others have noted, if you really do want to go wider, you will at least need to change the wheel, and the swingarm is also a good upgrade. If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.Comment
