what did you wrench on today??

I got the '68 Cortina GT running and pulled it out of the garage, then I got the Lotus 7 running and pulled it out of the garage. It had a couple tires with no air, but they weren't flat. The V700 Victoracer DOT race tires have a very stiff sidewall, and the Seven weighs under 1100 lbs. The tires won't go flat even if I remove the schraeder valve, the car just doesn't weigh enough to mash them down flat. then I hung a charger on the 1000G and got it going. that bike cost me 900 bucks. I found NOS Samsonite for 375. It had decent BT45s on itvwhen I bought it,and I wore them out (before getting the carbs working right). I paid a guy to fix a head gasket leak, and i paid Chef to do the carbs, because I didn't have time to do them right. This is a 2000 dollar bike all done, and its ready to cross continents. I'm buying a new clothes drier tomorrow, and wanted the cars out of the way of the appliance vendor. Those used Whirlpool washer and drier that I bought in the 90s were awesome. The best I ever used to get dirt and grease out of clothes. I can't afford that kind of quality new, so my new washer and drier are Crosley. I hope they will be close to as good.

I'll probably be draining carbs tomorrow. The Lotus has the original dual webers (the factory kept records) The Cortina has dual Delortto two barrel side drafts. The Suzuki runs bitchen with rebuilt calipers, carbs, new Avons, etc.

You Lucky Guy! The Leprechauns came through - you must have done something good for them or for Eire!
I'm going to start leaving a bowl of cream beside my parts bike and see if that'll work for me too!

Be careful, you might get cats!

Installed V&H 4-1 pipes and Progressive shocks--pics forthcoming. Also, R2 the main jets to compensate for my new pipes. Found some discrepancies with the Airbox and fuel hose. Got to remove the carbs again tomorrow...but those new pipes sound awesome!

Ed

changed plugs, put in a k&n air filter, and replaced the old turn signals with new ones. Now I have to get an electronic flasher. Fun! Bike started up and I couldn't help but take it around the block!

While Charmayne worked on painting her brakes today I started in on the Jeep finally. By the time I was done about 730pm I had it down to this:

Taking the air conditioning lines off of its radiator about made me p!$s myself due to the pressurization but all is good (yes I had the system discharged first).

I started disassembly on some nitrogen piggyback shocks I am going to rebuild. Just one tricky part so far....I walked away when I grabbed the bigger hammer, then thought twice.
Will get back to those this week.

Installed Progressive Suspension springs in my forks today. Everything went smooth with the exception of dropping a fork cap and nicking my front fender.... That kinda sucked.

Changed the sprockets and chain on the 77 750 and did some soldering on one of the connections in the ignition switch that was causing and intermitent loss of all electrical power. The began the tear down of my 78 1000C as per the situation that developed.....see mythread in the Projects section....

Installed the new tailgate on the truck and got the bike back on the road. I'll post pictures of the painted tank after we finish with the clearcoat (another set of spray to do next weekend)

Shot the clearcoat on my bodywork. Getting pretty excited to get this thing on the road.

Over the last day I installed ss brake lines and did the PVC fork spacer mod.
Really nice difference in the front end.

I got the '90 GSXR750F Katana exhaust fitted to the '82 GS1105G project and ready for welding tomorrow.

Even the exhaust cross-over pipe fits and clears the oil pan. ;)

I'm very interested in how this works out. Fitting a stock exhaust from a newer Suzuki to a GS might turn out to be the best solution for owners who want to keep their GS as close to stock as possible.

Dragged the GS trailer out of the weeds round the back, broke off the rotten wooden body and pressure-washed the frame, preparatory to moving the axle line back 2" and re-building it over the next week or two.
It was a worthwhile addition to my fleet when I only had bikes on the road and now I'm there again, it makes sense to use it once more.
It's a 4ft x 2ft trailer that pulls along behind the '80 GS850 quite nicely, using a standard 50mm ball hitch and tow-bar that I made up 20 years ago.
