what did you wrench on today??

I changed the oil and filter and then I mounted my new/used rear grab bar and the rear luggage rack. To my surprise I found that I could and did mount both of those in the same part of the frame where the rear grab bar goes. I had to go to Ace to get the bolts and a couple of spacers and washers but it mounted very easily to my surprise. Pics forth comming.

I spent the afternoon fartin' aboot with the carb on the DT250.....rebuilt last week (boiled it in lemon juice and water, cleaner than when it came from the factory), but couldn't get it to fire. Finally discovered some idiot  had put the floats in upside down (funny, they looked right when the whole carb was upside down on the bench). No factory setting for the idle speed needle, cranked it further in than I thought was necessary, kicked once, and the darn thing started!!!!

Back-yard mechanics........

Here is my bike before I mounted the rear grab bar & rear luggage rack.

I didnt wrench on anything, but I did pull the riding lawnmower out of a two ton pile of mulch that wifey thought she would level with that little mower. LOL She buried it level with the tops of the wheels halfway up the hill and it took a truck and chain to get it down and out. Does that count? :) I quietly explained that, yes, I know its a mulching mower, but its not up to the task of spreading a pile like that. eheheh

My wife used to get after me for overworking the 18hp lawn tractor. She got herself a hydrostatic tranny 38" cut 16 hp Lawn king and thinks it's a brush hog. I'm always pulling her out of spots and repairing things she's broken. I've got to weld up the mower deck again this year before she starts in again. She seriously overheated it so it fogs the yard and keeps mosquitos away while she's mowing too. Have fill the oil and check the gas on it. It's a Kohler at least, so I put new rings in it and expect it work again, not like these new Briggs & Stratton junk engines.:D

i wrenched on a 20 ton compressor. has 8 cylinders and a total displacement of around 6000cc and holds around 60 pounds of refrigerant!

YEAH BABY!!!! That really sets the back end off nicely..I like!!!
Thanks Chuck, I thought so as well.
After I did it I spent about an hour looking at it, my wife asked me why I kept looking at it. I said just look at the back end and how well balanced it flows. :D

I use mine on my bikes to bungie my jacket..Its cold in the AM so i take a jacket. By afternoon and its 70 or so i just bungie the jacket to the rack.. Very asthetically pleasing as well as functional.

Installed my new oil cooler. Thanks to Posplayr:)
Took a "short" ride in rush hour:rolleyes: traffic to the bike shop to get packing for my pipe. The oil guage didnt even hit 100C in bumper to bumper traffic:D
Waiting for it to cool down to repack it:cool:

WOOHOO - I mounted the GPz cylinder block this evening. I had it all the way on except for cylinder #2 oil rings, bent the bottom one, and had to pull everything off, replace it, and start all over. Thankfully I had a spare set of rings lying around from a previous screw up.
But it is done, and during WWE Friday Night Smackdown, no less.

Brian, expect a call...HEHE

p.s. sscott, that looks factory. Really blends in with the lines of the bike. Very nice.

Might have made more points if you had used that line on the wife instead.:)

Wrenching

Wrenching

I had the pleasure of working on a lawn mower today. But I did reward myself. 185 miles were put on my RT this afternoon.

today ... i pulled the carbs and changed main jets and reassembled ... all before breakfast :D yesterday .... i found that after my valve adjustment (one of the adjustment screws had r-u-n-n-o-f-t) and carb sync the old gurl ran great (smooth, quiet, immediate throttle response) up to 3/4 throttle, at which point she quit trying and generally just got all kinds of broke up ... is it possible, now that she's actually running on "all 4" that the improved scavenging and 30 degree ambient temps have required a jet swap? i dunno for sure, but aftah i dress for the weather (knit hat and gloves :D:twistedevil:) i'm gonna find out if my cure worked.

No wrenching today...gonna take the 78 750 on a cruise and just enjoy the day. Supposed to be raining all day sunday here in Detroit so i will change the leaky stator cover gasket on my 77 750 then..All have a good day .

Luckily, it was just some collars and washers. I put oversized wheels on it to raise the deck up to keep from mowing all these rocks. Though the town is small and a little removed from the metro, we actually have an Ace Hardware store. It even carries stainless metric fasteners and dark chocolate Reeses! The mower will do its duty today, then I'll take an old Suzook out for some BBQ in Blanco.
