    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

WOw!!!

Great job restoring this bike. I bought one last summer and is kinda neglected condition it seems. PO Painted most things black so not gonna do a resto like yours. Take too much in aesthetics. You gave me an idea though with your blue sprocket. Blue is my fav color and I am thinking I am going to do some repaint with blue and those smoke grey accents that you did. Wont be for a while though but gives me some idea of what direction I hope to go in the future. I have a leaking gas tank I think from pits inside the tank :mad: Thinking of using some of the derusting solutions you mentioned and POR the inside. Will that seal up pinholes or do I need to go more extensive? Was your tank leaking/seeping at all? Mine is seeping on the left side kinda behind the fairing grommet brackets.

Mine leaked after it was acid dipped for paint, I had the bodyshop that did the work do the repair. I used Evaporust to clean out the tank, it worked pretty well.

supposed to remove the rust or just neutralize it so that it could be coated/sealed? I assume that's the point of the POR is to not only seal the rust but maybe seal tiny holes as well? I am still coming over the rebuild tejasmud did. I am thinking of making just about everything blue with the grey accents like you did and even doing the frame and the rails and float bowls blue like your carbs instead of the black ;) Did renobruce paint your carb bodies too? I am assuming it was that same dupli aluminum that you mentioned before?

Yep Bruce did my carbs, you get them back ready to bolt on and sync, The POR 15 will seal off any holes just not sure what the long term effect would be. You may do a search or post up a thread, I'm sure lots of us have encountered this.

I received my RR from Duanage...one of the last :( and I just finally mounted it up last nite.....well kinda! The one I got is HUGE! Bout twice the size of the original. The problem, when trying to mount it to the stock location it was hitting the monoshock. How did you mount your RR? Or did you have one that wasn't much bigger than stock? Also, where did you get your Vortex sprocket from? I find myself in need of a sprocket and chain and am thinking that I really like yours ever since I drooled on your thread :D I find this at KneeDraggers but is says 520?? http://www.kneedraggers.com/list/1064/manu/Vortex/Suzuki/BANDIT 1200/1998/ Thanks

Dueller,

I never replaced my original RR ,as far as the Vortex sprocket ,go to there website, and reference 98 Suzuki Bandit 1200, it uses the same bolt pattern, so any sizes they have listed for that bike will fit the 700 and many other GS models. Hope this helps.

Some new stuff as of late, an NOS valve cover, NOS ignition cover, 1150 front signal, NOS fuse box holder, some OEM grips and the prize jewel a replacement HAGON rear shock..Thanks Dee!

Drool! :) I'm curious to see how you like that hagon shock. I'd like to upgrade my shock and fork springs over the winter.
 
Wow, the usps may be broke, but they are fast. You might need to back the spring preload down a little, i cranked it up a little....

I'd back the preload off a quarter of an inch of so, and see what the sag comes out at. Can always crank it back up some if needed. Was told that it was an off the shelf unit, and that with my weight and mostly solo riding, the spring on it would be fine. The black allen-head screw on the side of the bottom of it is for rebound and compression dampening, it's a linked system. Was told after you adjust it, it's supposed to take a few piston cycles (a longer ride) for it to change, i'd ride it first before changing the dampening any.
