    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    My 1982 GS 450 - journal thread

I'll make sure I check that all out, thank you! My plugs are all totally black and looking like they run very rich, so I wouldn't have thought to go nearly as far out with my adjustment screws (I'm at 1.5 turns due to the carbon fouling). This will be a tremendous help having your...

    My 1982 GS 450 - journal thread

Hey Bren, I'm a total noob with an '82 gs650gl and I have very similar looking plugs, the white smoke on the left tail pipe, and a cold exhaust pipe on cylinder 2. I've looked at the carb cleaning article, and put my carb through a cleaning, but I'm curious if I have the needle issue yours did...

cleaning up the wiring on my project bike

I hope you got it figured out. I have an '82 GS650GL and it has a random orange wire that I've yet to figure out. None of my dash lights have been working though, and I can't make sense of the extra blue connector coming from the instrument panel or where its mating connector is. But the kill...

    New Rider

Oh it's definitely too cold to ride now! First snow of the year today and a balmy 32 degrees as the high. The new handlebars are lower, but they still exist! They just don't leave room for the tach, speedo, and cluster..so that'll be a problem for future me. I'll have to take some pics to show...

    New Rider

Hey all, New rider here (with no real riding yet). Bought my first motorcycle this year as a winter project to wrench on - an 1982 Suzuki GS650GL. Bike came with a manual and some extra parts, but many stock parts are missing (i.e. side panels, handlebars). Bike runs and drives, but needs some...

#2 cylinder always rich and fouled

Newbie question. I too have a rich fouled cylinder #2 plug (as well as some other issues). Replacement petcocks obviously must be vacuum style, but are there other criteria they need to meet in order to be compatible?
