A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    The left turn

It could be that with the throttle being on the right, it's simply less awkward turning left on a bike. That doesn't explain why Nascar or any other race I can think of whether on foot or in a vehicle runs counterclockwise. I was thinking maybe it's a much bigger force of nature than we...

    my very expensive gasket scraper

I could use a better scraper. Thanks for this. Assuming those old dingy spoons in the silverware drawer are solid not plated, I may have a resource.

I found NOS points cover and emblem and gasket

I did the same, switching to stainless allen head bolts and using antiseize on anything fastened to the head. Exhaust, tach drive and cam chain tensioner bolts in particular. I figured those are exposed to the highest temperatures and are likely to seize. The combination of heat and moisture...

    The left turn

I thought this was interesting. A study showed people instinctively turn left. Maybe this why it always feels more natural to take that left on a bike. Roundabouts always go counterclockwise too. :unsure...

    Fuel cap gasket

Here's the thread by @Nessism containing the recipe. I used a kitchen scale to get the portions I needed, but his ratio worked quite well. It's really fizzy, like vinegar and baking soda. I'm curious about your leaky cap. Are you sure it was just the seal causing the leak while de-rusting the...

    Pic of the week game

I was riding around downtown the other night and found this shiny gorilla staring at me. I think he took a shine to my 850. There were actually two gorillas there but this one outshined the other. Ha..... 'Nuff monkeying around.... Unless you can find a six foot polished primate, how about just...

    Pic of the week game

Thanks, Rich. I found it challenging to find a pic that would make someone think "change" without a before and after pic. Found a couple of oil change places, but not interesting. Maybe the dry river bed for a change, but didn't look very picturesque. Maybe just overthinking things as usual...

    Fuel cap gasket

I used that recipe to free a trailer hitch stuck under my uncle's truck. He must have backed into a snow bank and left it all winter. Every minute or so I'd spray some stuff and give it a thump with a dead blow hammer. It took 20 minutes or so but it worked. We were about to scrap that hitch and...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Got out for an early ride today. Thought I'd beat the traffic, but everyone else had the same idea. 20260607_080853 by Roger, on Flickr

It's a good thing building codes have changed. This old diner on Central Ave, aka Route 66, in Albuquerque collapsed a few weeks ago. Someone actually caught it on camera. Route 66 sure has changed too.
