A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Engine Died During Practice Emergency Stop

If it an't broke, don't fix it. If it an't broke, don't fix it. Of the many street motorcycles I've owned, I don't remember any that didn't exhibit the same phenomenon upon sudden braking so I'd be very reluctant to adjust anything. Just get out and enjoy the weather. If you have to make a...

    Starter is growling

Starter problem Starter problem If you hear a "growling noise" and it's coming "from" the starter, you've already isolated the problem because you know (a) you're getting juice to your starter (so there's nothing wrong with the solenoid) and (b) your starter isn't turning over even though it's...

    quick starter relay question

Getting it figured out Getting it figured out I think you are now well on your way to getting it figured out. Do you still think you had a bad solenoid???;)

    quick starter relay question

Well, it might be but I haven't changed my mind, as of yet! If you're now getting power on the 'starter side', that's all the more reason so try a different power source to see if your starter is working properly. Try the easy stuff first; after awhile, you'll figure out why that's a good...

    quick starter relay question

I highly doubt it. I highly doubt it. As I first said, I highly doubt it!! You heard clicking before and you hear clicking now. I think you've now got 2 good solenoids and, most likely, one bad battery...and possibly some charging issues. :-\\\ (Hint: Regarding the 'click' you're hearing...

    quick starter relay question

I wouldn't do that... I wouldn't do that... You're welcome!!:) (Be sure to save the receipt because I don't think you've exhausted the possibility that it's something else.);) You mentioned that your recently ridden bike's battery registers 11.9 volts; that's not good. As a comparison, my...

    quick starter relay question

Maybe...maybe not Maybe...maybe not Yeah, Steve, that was precisely the reason I stated "...the solenoid could be bad but the fact that it's 'clicking' is a good sign; not a bad one." Cableguy...Just right! It could be bad, for sure, if you're doing a proper check and have no...

    quick starter relay question

Solenoid Solenoid Your problem is NOT likely to be your solenoid. A working solenoid 'clicks' every single time you start your bike. If it doesn't click, it's not working. The reason you normally don't hear it click is because the noise is drowned out by the sound of the starter motor and...

    450 petcock vacuum

Lean Lean Yeah, you've got the hang of it.;) Try backing out the air screw on the carb with the 'white' plug and see if that helps get your idle down faster. If not, wait for your new boots. It is important that they're in good shape, no matter what else.:)

    450 petcock vacuum

Lean Lean It sounds like it's running lean. I'd suggest you back out your air screws about a half a turn and see if that takes care of it. Also, take a look at your plugs. It sounds like you're looking for a big problem when you've probably got a little problem......which is really common!;)

    82 gs750e horns

Screw it Screw it Nothing connects to the screw. It's there to adjust tension on the horn's diaphram. If you mess with it, (which I DON'T suggest) it will change the tone...or completely stop making noise, which isn't good!:)

    Rapid tire wear

Irc Irc I'm running IRC Durotours on my 1100 and having great luck with them. They 'feel' good and are wearing very well. When the time comes, I'll probably get another set.:) I don't know anything about your bike but over the years, I've noticed that some bikes seem to wear out tires more...

$16 for one quart of 15W Fork Oil????

Yikes Yikes That's about what they charge at Cycle Gear. I needed some a while back and was near one of their stores, so I stopped in (first and last visit). I took it up to the check-out and asked the kid if it was mis-marked. He looked at me like I was from a different planet...
