A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey all. Been helping Steve with this bike. Big T, any chance you have a link for the shop manual?

How to shop for a motorcycle battery

AGM has been fantastic for me too. Although, before spending the cash on it you might want to verify that your changing system is healthy. I found decent prices on mine at www.partsnmore.com

Pods, Pipes, Panic! (Help! Your Bike has Pods)

Piping in to share my re-jetting experience. 82 GS650G rejet. Went to pods. Left the stock 4-2 exhaust. Used a Dynajet kit. I ~HAVE~ experienced a noticeable increase in performance while in the powerband (5.0 to 6.5-7.0k). I am rocking the BS-32mm carbs. However, instead of drilling OR...

    BS34SS Needle Jet Seat Filter

I got rid of mine entirely 2 seasons ago and haven't had a carb problem since. I don't think you need it. What do the GS veterans think?

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Very nice! I ran across [not literally] a monster water turtle on the way to an interview for grad school while driving the cage. He got a little grumpy at me when I picked him up to move him off the asphalt and tried valiantly to pee on me. I keep finding these turtles and I'm going to start to...

    tachometer drive gear is boken

The whole drive will come out. You can convince it out gently with a flathead screwdriver. I had to do this on my 650. There is threading on the tach drive, as well as corresponding threading on your exhaust-side cam. Provided the threads on your drive is good, if your tach is not spinning on...

    '81 450L, oil lamp activates below 4K

A follow-up with the solution. After about a week and a half of noggin scratching and tinkering I've finally figured out the problem. Initial examination rendered gasket goo on the cam chain tensioner. It was a sticky mess. Pulled that, replaced the gasket and re-set the tensioner. Also...

    '81 450L, oil lamp activates below 4K

Sorry for the quick reply. I've got to be at school for a final soon. You guys gave me some really excellent advice. The bike's got a little over 19k miles on it....not enough [I would hope] for her bearings or oil pump to be shot. But you never know. Let me check the pressure inside and let...

    '81 450L, oil lamp activates below 4K

My brother's 450L is, for the most part, a sweet little ride. We're considering sprucing her up and taking her out to Brown County. It occurs to me that I'm running out of time to do any repairs. Luckily there's not a whole lot that troubles me aside from a little simple maintenance. Except...

Just here to brag a little

Like a dream. I took her out after work that night and hammered a few corners on the long way home. Bird never felt so sure in the corners. With her carbs clean and synced, and the suspension feels like I imagine it probably should have new. Although the springs weren't as beefy as I'd...

Just here to brag a little

Easter Sunday was supposed to be a day of simple wrenching. I head over to The Cafe Kid's spot to tackle an oil change and adding a little pvc preload spacers to my forks. Got it meet cowboyup3371 (Welcome to Dayton! One more GS to the collective) and watch him fiddle around with his spiffy...

Fear And Loathing on The Way To Red River (or, My Tales from the Red River Rally)

Wow. With luck like mine, I can kind of see what to anticipate. So......there's going to be another Red River in 2012?
