A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    GS450 to 500 swap questions

Why not just run GS500 carbs? All the jetting info for them is out on the internet. Did you get the rear brake sorted out? I may have missed it...... And just an FYI: with the GS850G triple tree on the GS450 frame, you can run stock GS500 forks. The 500 forks have the same diameter as 850...

    SH775 wire harness guidance

I've ordered a couple connectors from Eastern Beaver. Good company in general, but when I ordered the connectors for a R/R I was also in the market for 2 pin, 4 pin, 9 pin, and other size connectors. So it was a "one stop connector shop".

    Saddle Bag/Sissy Bar

Did you find a sissy bar? I think I saw some on ebay in the past, but haven't looked in a long time. Adding saddlebags require some type of sub frame so the bags can't swing in to the chain /rear wheel. If you have that base covered, its kind of up to you when it comes to size and style. I...

    Carpuride 712D First Impressions

Rich, have you noticed a large (ish) current draw when your unit powers up? I've been thinking about getting something like the Carpuride unit for my GK, but I dont want to overwhelm my charging system. I think other than the initial frustration of installing and getting used to new tech on a...

    My 1982 GS 450 - journal thread

If I'm not mistaken, you have the carb issue figured out now, correct? I was just reading your troubleshooting thread..... I know it's not standard procedure here, but the GS450 can use a R/R from a GS500. It bolts in the same spot and uses the same wiring connector. But if your are going...

    Suzuki GS450 Cafe Racer

What model GS450? I would assume it is an E or S model, but it makes a big difference..... If it is one of those, than a similar looking tank from another E or S model should bolt right up. The older E and S model tanks should "fit", but not quite. How radical are looking to go with your...

    The Little GS125 Carb Issues

What other maintenance has been done to the bike? I saw the valves were mentioned earlier, but what about the carb mounting boot & oring?

    Somethings wrong…

I wouldn't run the engine until you check the cam chain timing. Check the service manual (Clymers, OEM, etc) on how to remove and install the cam chain tensioner, amd make sure that you reinstalled it properly. To check the timing, you have to line up the timing mark on the end of the crank to...

    Reviving an 82 GS1100GK

How did I miss this project? Glad to see another GK getting back on the road.

FINALLY have the money for a GS450 or a GR650.

Personally I would lean towards a GS450. I owned a few GR650's and engine parts were tough to find. But the 450 is still easy to get almost all parts for. There are some parts from a GS500 that will swap right over (carbs, R/R, etc) to a GS450. What else are you looking for?

    GS850G engine guards compatible with?

I recently bought a 1982 GS850G that is in fairly good shape. Over winter I'm slowly fixing things / cleaning things / replacing things (you guys know the drill by now!) but I keep looking for a set of engine guards and I'm coming up empty. I've been searching ebay for ones for a GS850G...

    GS450S Carb question

I can't help at all with GSX carbs, but I did put carbs from an 89 GS500 on to a 1980 GS450S..... so you probably do have other options.

    83 GS1100GK restore / refresh

I didn't follow that to the letter either..... but at least it gives a starting point. After my first longer test ride, my wife and I took it for a local spin. She pointed out that the rear shocks are under sprung..... Since the rear shocks are Progressive 412's with 105 / 150 weight springs...

    83 GS1100GK restore / refresh

With a little bit of warmer weather blowing thru, i was able to get in a couple test rides..... i can already tell im going to love this bike! I installed new tires front and rear (Shinko 777) with new tubes. The mixture screws were out a little too far (popping at idle) so they are back to 2...

    83 GS1100GK restore / refresh

There's some more work being done, but I haven't taken many pictures yet. New tires, some more painted parts, fresh wiring connects, etc. But that's all I have for now.
