A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi folks, what's the best method to remove or at least minimise the speckly corrosion on the plastic chrome stalks for the indicators.

    Will '78 GS750 carbs/assembly fit a '79 GS1000?

Thanks zed! I have no idea at this point whether the prospective buyer is rebuilding a stock 1000 or something else.... At the end of the day, it's his choice and I'm in no hurry to sell.

    Will '78 GS750 carbs/assembly fit a '79 GS1000?

Thanks for that Matt! I didn't know if they'd bolt up or not. Re the brass, yep mains, needle and emulsion will need changing.

    Will '78 GS750 carbs/assembly fit a '79 GS1000?

I have a set of refurbished carbs (complete in rack) which I advertised for sale. A guy wants to know if they would physically fit a '79 GS1000? I don't know, perhaps someone here does? TIA.

    Mid-throttle carb syncing

Have just rebuilt my VM26SS carbs....'78 GS750E. Quick Q: Can I leave all carb tops off at the same time when adjusting slides if needed? (Thinking of possible air leakage down the slides affecting overall balance.....maybe over thinking it?? ) I guess if the bench sync is good, the question...

    vm26ss float valve/needle refurb?

Many thanks mate! I had a look around some sites and some prices are outrageous!! Fortunately, I found a local (Aus) seller... https://www.motorcyclespareswarehouse.com.au/collections/float-valve-and-needle-seat/products/kyv-03023-float-valve-needle-and-seat I've purchased other bits from...

    vm26ss float valve/needle refurb?

Thanks for the responses zed1015 and GregT.:) Given the "return on investment" probability, I'll probably bite the bullet and purchase OEM....if I can find someone somewhere who sells the right needle/seat assembly. I had a look at the two sources you offered up zed, but couldn't identify...

    vm26ss float valve/needle refurb?

Hi folks, I recently scored a set of vm26ss carbs, complete in the rack for $25.....AUD!!;) The float valve seats and needles are OEM Mikuni but the needles appear to be slightly scored where they sit in the base of the seat. My question: Is it at all possible to reset the needle/seat in some...

    VM carb adjustment tool

I have a '78 GS750E and also a '72 Honda CB500K1. As part of the spares box that I received with the Honda, is a Honda carb adjustment tool, part nbr 07908-4600200. It works perfectly well on my VM26SS carbs, and should do so for many more Mikuni VM carbs.

'78 GS750EC: replacing countershaft oil seal

Yep, just the outside. I have a new C-clip but not sure whether I'll be able to fit it. As suggested earlier, I'll see if I can chase up a half-round circlip or a snap ring of the right size.
