A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1981 GSX1100 Katana Based Project

Coming back to the DW versus Curb weight quoted by Suzuki, I believe all Japanese manufacturers in the 80's quoted the DW without any liquid on board i.e; not only fuel but also oil and coolant if any. This explains the difference between the two measures. A marketing gimmick as when KTM...

GS 1000 engine in GSXR 1100 first gen frame?

Thanks! Sometimes other projects get your full attention and it's difficult to refocus on some neglected issues. For instance the chain drive would slightly touch the transverse lower frame rail of the GSXR chassis. It was simply a question of filing the extra matter but it meant pulling the...

GS 1000 engine in GSXR 1100 first gen frame?

6 years later, here's an update about the XR41 replica I built. The bike has been running from time to time and is in perfect condition except that it had not been painted. Two reasons for that: the cost and the design. I wanted something that didn't look too modern and in line with the style...

Quite amazing result for sure! Yes, the 1150 engine is the most powerfull power plant in the Suzuki air cooled range. I've fitted one also on my 1100 Kat as you will see below. 1100 Katana restomod with 1230 engine - The GSResources Forums. The supervisor approved it aswell! These engines are...

    1981 GSX1100 Katana Based Project

I don't understand the conversion from grams to kg? In metric units a kg is 1000 grams. So eitheir you saved 184 kg or only 18.4 kg which sounds more reasonable and a great accomplishment in any case given that the bare 1150 engine must way around 100 kg.

I lift my hat off to you! A couple of years ago, I went through a weight saving program on my GS 1000 ST. The main modifications were to use GSXR 11 G/H wheels and complete front end. As far as I remember I must have gained around 14 to 15 kg... GS 1000 ST weight saving program - The GSResources...

More modern cartridge fork options - retaining GS wheels & proper/revised geometry

More modern cartridge fork options - retaining GS wheels & proper/revised geometry

I can't agree more, the weight is the N?1 problem on these GS 1000's. Its possible to drastically reduce the weight with GSXR 1100 86/87 wheels and suspension which I did on one of my bikes but the ultimate weight saving goes with a GSXR 1052 engine in the GS 1000 frame with a Yamaha R6 complete...
