A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Choke Plunger Repairs

Well I finally got around to fitting the repaired plungers. The bike starts much better from cold and doesn't run rich at low revs like it used to. Much better, so thanks again Rob.

    Choke Plunger Repairs

Just want to acknowledge Rob in the UK for the work he did on my GS750 plungers by replacing the rubber seals. He did a great job and was very quick to get them back to me. Contact him through zed.1015@yahoo.co.uk or through the forum - member zed1015.

    GS750 - Points Problem

Found the problem ! The bracket at the end of one of the condenser wires was bent/twisted and was just touching the post that the signal wire attaches to. Only found it by the use of a magnifying glass.

    GS750 - Points Problem

I'm fitting a points system back on my 1979 GS750E but something weird is happening. Instead of the voltage at the points disappearing when they open, I'm actually getting 10 volts when the open and no volts when they are closed. When I disconnect one of the coils I get 12 volts at the points...

    New Stator(s) - No Charge

Ok, thank you. Didn't use a SH775 but it is a 5 wire with the three stator phases plugged in to it.

    New Stator(s) - No Charge

The bike has a new separate R/R and the stator loop is not plugged in. Does it need to be physically removed ?

    New Stator(s) - No Charge

Still waiting for the unit to arrive. I'm in New Zealand and it only needs to come across the Pacific ocean from California. It's estimated to arrive in 8 days time, so that will mean it's taken more than a month to get here. Could have rowed over in a boat and picked it up.

    New Stator(s) - No Charge

Thanks Grimly. I found a new 12 pole unit with good reviews so I've gone with that. Should be able to sell the 18 pole units (one of which was refunded anyhow) so won't be out of pocket.

    New Stator(s) - No Charge

Redman - I went and checked the number of poles. Both replacement stators have 18 so I think you are on to something. Even though the supplier states they fit 77-79 models, perhaps they are selling these wrongly thinking they will work on pre-1980 models ? Thank you - JT

    New Stator(s) - No Charge

Oops - should have stated AC volts and not DC. Definitely only getting 11 AC volts. Stator is definitely for a 77-79 GS750.

    New Stator(s) - No Charge

My 1979 GS750 was charging a little low. I could get no more than 13.2 volts out of it, so I did the normal tests including measuring the stator's output (original Suzuki stator). The DC voltage output was a little low as I couldn't get any more than 55 VDC regardless of the engine revs. The...

    1979 GS750 (VM26SS) Leaking Float Bowls

My gaskets were Suzuki NOS and are the "salmon" paper ones. My new needles are due to be delivered on Monday so I should be able to report back soon, once I reassemble everything and test ride it.

    1979 GS750 (VM26SS) Leaking Float Bowls

In answer to your questions, I believe the gaskets must be leak proof - that's the purpose of any gasket. If you use the clear tube method then you only need to dump fuel from the bowl the tube is attached to i.e. one bowl at a time.

    1979 GS750 (VM26SS) Leaking Float Bowls

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I have the same exact issue on my 79 GS750 also. Same circumstances as well in terms of new Suzuki gaskets, everything cleaned and float heights set (I did the clear tube test as well though). The only difference with me is that I did clean the needle seat...

    Sticky trip meter - 81 GS1000G

Hi Griff I haven't been inside a speedo off an 81 1100 but I have been in 77-79 750 and 850 models. Assuming they are of a similar design, the trip meter is mechanically driven through gears and cogs. It could be that yours need some lubrication but I would not recommend spraying lube into the...
