DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    '81 Fuel Hose Size?

Thank you for that valuable info. Much appreciated! :encouragement:

    '81 Fuel Hose Size?

I appreciate your answer but as Grimly stated, the OEM stuff isn't made for ethanol fuel, which in my area, cannot be escaped. And the part number has changed several times over the 44 years since I've owned this bike, which makes me even more wary ordering stock. The most recent PN looks...

    '81 Fuel Hose Size?

1981 GS750E ; I need the fuel line/hose size. So I can buy them generically at my local auto parts store. Could have sworn I saw them here but now I can't find 'em, looked all over - I actually need ALL fuel tank related hoses: They are: Fuel HOSE - Part No: 0934307091 Vaccuum HOSE for...

    81 GS750E - Missing at Idle & Low RMP

I didn't install them yet as the plumbing washers are holding...for now. When I do my upcoming end-of-the-season "dry-dock" routine, I'll put them in then. But my low idle and hesitation issue under 3000 RPM's has returned. It feels different from before, I'm thinking i may be a fuel/air...

    81 GS750E - Missing at Idle & Low RMP

Thanks guys for the great advice. I ordered them here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/326197120653?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=uNIvHnIzSYm&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=7dPnllW-Tje&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY It was the best price I found for OEM ($3.20 each) and the seller has 100-percent...

    81 GS750E - Missing at Idle & Low RMP

I read about Hylomar Blue, sounds like some righteous stuff!! :encouragement: From your experience, what's the better route? Buying the original part, upgrading to a "dowty washer" that works better and will last longer than the OEM, or going the Hylomar route. Also, is Hylomar hard to...

    81 GS750E - Missing at Idle & Low RMP

UPDATE: Runs like a raped ape!! :p:p:p New petcock arrived from Georgefixs yesterday - installed today. Functions perfect and the bike seems like it's brand new. Install was easy, BUT the only issue I had was that the "rubber" washers for petcock bolts kept leaking. I've been using flat...

    81 GS750E - Missing at Idle & Low RMP

THANKS ALL!! I put it on the PRI position and took a quick ride before I got started on the vacuum petcock test as tom203 instructed. It RAN GREAT! Like new!! So, suffice to say, that was a pretty good indication that the issue is the VP. Got the hoses set up for the test: Fuel flowed freely...

    81 GS750E - Missing at Idle & Low RMP

Thanks rphillips > yep, the 1980 1100's were the same paint code/color. oldGSfan > I have one of those! And there I was yesterday, doing it the old-school way, getting my hands WAY too close to the hot exhaust, trying to discern a difference. ======================= tom203 > Great lead. And...

    81 GS750E - Missing at Idle & Low RMP

At idle, it feels/sounds like it's running on 3 cylinders - idle is low and will sometimes stall at a light without some help/throttle. Suspected a stuck float, because it smooths out around 4000 RPMs but it's probably not that as the carbs were cleaned and rebuilt and the problem is still...

How do YOU jump start an old GS?

I checked it out and it's definitely something I have never done before. The expertise and knowledge of the users on this site is beyond amazing! Do you suggest doing this prophylactically before there's an issue? ------------------- Meh, I had to reduce the quality to post it...

How do YOU jump start an old GS?

I'm going to certainly do the charging system tests, thanks. I went ahead with the Mighty Max in my link even tho it was 12 AH instead of 14 AH - Mighty Max says its the right battery for my bike and the listed dimensions are just a tenth of an inch off from what I have in there now. It's...
