A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    My new bike!

Everybody I know has/fixes/restores old vehicles, otherwise, one would question their priorities.

what did you wrench on today??

Huh, found an old post of mine, thought all the old stuff had disappeared. Date indicates that it was originally posted within a year or two of my first being a GSR member.

    Wacky vin!?

My 1979 GS750 E has the "E" stamped on the frame, like GS750E-448xx.

    Surprise in the mail

Dang, that is so cool, Trevor. You deserve gifts like that for getting to know Wes, and arranging for us mere mortals to meet and chat with him.

A Late Introduction from Kelowna BC

Favourite local roads? Well, naturally, Westside Road, but it's not open yet because of the wild fire. Hwy 33 to Rock Creek, and Osoyoos, then back up the Valley is a nice day trip, but, naturally, it's not complete because of the rock slide. Sounds like we live in a disaster area, don't...

A Late Introduction from Kelowna BC

I've always liked the styling of those 650s. I had an '82, but it was an "L", with full Vetter gear. Ugly to my eyes, but a dream to ride in a rainstorm. I'm just across the bridge from you (Central Okanaganites will know what this means), so maybe see you riding around.

    Leaking gas

Greetings, and welcome. Re: the carb leaks, have a look at this post for some useful info: https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forum/technical-forums/carb-fuel-exhaust/1725164-1979-gs750-vm26ss-leaking-float-bowls Yeah, petcocks do leak. Kits or aftermarket pattern units are available...

    1979 GS750E petcock won't shut off completely

OK, more progress on the fuel cock saga. I compared internal parts on the OEM tap (with the new aftermarket kit) with the ebay tap. I noted that the o-ring projection on the aftermarket kit diaphram was not as long as the ebay diaphram. Swapped those parts, and it fit into the OEM tap, and...

    Center Stand assist

Oh, yeah, a piece of plywood is your friend, for sure. I could manage a heavy lump like a Concours OK, but stumped by every larger GS I've ever owned.

What is this part? Cushion 21215-49001

Looks like it goes on the oil pump gear.

    1979 GS750E petcock won't shut off completely

Received the mounting bolt gaskets today, petcock does not leak anywhere, now, so that is a good thing to report. Mounted tank back onto the bike, but, you know, those repro petcocks just do not fit on a 1979 GS750E. Outlet and vacuum ports are pointing in the wrong directions, mainly toward...

    1979 GS750E petcock won't shut off completely

Tank with new petcock installed is sitting on the bench, has not yet been on the bike. Fuel outlet has not leaked, so that part of the issue seems solved. Still weeps around mounting bolts, so will address that when new mounring gaskets get to me. Bike is almost ready to insure (has been...

    1979 GS750E petcock won't shut off completely

Received the new repro petcock a couple of days ago.......looks OK. Did not include the mounting bolt gaskets, as I expected, so now I wait for ten days for Suzuki gaskets to arrive from Toronto. No worries, still waiting for cam cover gasket.
