A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hard to tell from your photo. Fuel line is middle of carb rack. There are two vent hoses. try this photo

    gs650e Stator + R/R issue

”Don't understand with my voltage drop when I connect the R/R to the battery.“ I’d suspect your used stator is no good….as its output goes up, it shorts out on itself , dropping the voltage . A stator can look good during the 80 volt phase to phase stuff but fail to deliver when loaded.due to...

    1981 GS650g carb problems

This guy on eBay claims to have #1 carb body from gs650 https://ebay.us/m/MGhoYd best to assume the worst and fully/properly all the carbs….some folks can be creative

    GS850 Wiring

Here’s the layout…..the tank sending unit has variable resistance …sending its output to the fuel gauge

    Unknown short, no power anywhere

This is the 1982 650e. ? Did you get the colored wiring diagram? pull the ignition fuse and see if other stuff behaves normally…key “on”

    Charging issues help and troubleshoiting

That stator is BBQ’ed…..might produce, but will fail completely. here’s one of my stators from 2012 on its way out, struggled to produce 13 volts down a steep hill

    Bike randomly died while riding.

Yes, charge battery and start bike to determine if it’s actually charging. …your shunt r/r might have fried the stator. The electronic ignition is sensitive to voltage drop off without much warning

'83 1100E very hard starting, starter motor switching directions

I’d suspect the starter motor itself is wounded, causing coil voltage to drop during cranking. Jumping from running vehicle lessens this voltage drop. Inspect starter clutch drive. Consider getting a replacement starter motor…good to have a spare!

Sparks, Zats, Ignition Coils, and Gas Mileage

The stock tan coils have primary resistance of about 4.2 ohms..their secondary resistance plug wire to plug wire (no boots) measures about 12000 ohms….add on a pair of 5k ohm boots , you get an overall resistance in 22k ohms. Stock plug boots were/ seemed higher at 10k ohms each on all the old...

81 Suzuki GS650G - oil pressure light flickering on hard stop - marginal pressure?

Finally, I can stop worrying! Best to avoid oil regulator testing unless you’re overly ambitious.

    1980 GS550E igniter location.

Strange…remove the round cover over the signal generator setup ….maybe some PO opted for dyna setup, which eliminates the factory ignitor

1980 GS850G trans or shaft hum

This gear assembly is precision finished ground as a set to ensure same grinding wheel profile on both gears. Then some lucky guy gets to pick shims and choose which way to orient output housing to achieve quiet/smooth fit up. I’d try to get another set and aim for a little slop at fit-up…it...

    Clutch

You might have to adjust position of clutch lever arm on its pivot before fiddling with cable adjustments . I use the heel of my hand to push on the lever arm till I feel contact with clutch…this is a good starting spot to then use cable adjustments to get the proper “ throw” at handle.
