A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What jets when moving to pods?

glib: My own GS850 runs stock air cleaner etc. This is a cafe racer build for a mate hence the pods. I will discuss the Dynojet kit with him. This will cost him around 180+ Aussie dollars by the time he adds postage but does sound like easiest way forward. mmattockx: Thanks also for your input.

    1980 gs850g

Having owned an 850 back in the late 80's and a couple of 1000's I decided to get another one. I just wish I could upload 2 photos so that I could show you an "as purchased photo" It was bad but I enjoyed the work. I just do not get it when this site asks subscribers to show off their...

How can I restore this bike from the ground up but not understand the helmet holder?? I just do not fathom just how this helmet holder works! Have a look at my photo. Have I attached it correctly? Is everything as it should be? Interesting that one of the "pins" on the moulding that goes along...

Many thanks to JTGS850Gl, CHUCK HAHN, CIPHER,NESSISM GSRICK: I now have all 4 passages cleared. Once I got to appreciate just how fine the hole is and finished the job off with carb clean and a wire from my wire brush they are good to go. Thanks folks as your help is greatly appreciated.

    Blocked orifice in bowls

The Carburetor Rebuild Tutorial by Ed Ness is very clear and greatly appreciated. I have a set of carbs from a 1983 GS850G that I just cannot get clear. Page 51 of the Tutorial clearly advises that I should be able to spray into top of bowl and get liquid from the hole below. I have an...

    Vent "T" piece routing 1980 GS850

Between carbs 1 & 2 there is a plastic "T" piece that is a vent of some sort. This is repeated between carbs 3 & 4. Obviously there should be a hose on these and that was not there when this bike was purchased and not running. Can someone tell me where these are to be routed to once I fit hoses...

    Assembling front caliper 1980 GS850G

chuck hahn & Rijko: I got the job done and really appreciate assistance. I actually got one done using a paper clip but reverted to putting the seal at bottom of piston for 2nd one. That seemed much easier. This bike is near to going on the road after a frame up rebuild. Can you answer me this...

    Assembling front caliper 1980 GS850G

I am trying to refit pistons to my front calipers. No problem fitting the piston seal but can anyone give me some advice of what method to fit dust seal which of course fits to both the piston and the caliper body. What process have you found works best? Do I fit the dust seal to the piston or...

    190 GS850G helmet holder

My 1980 GS850G rebuild is about complete. Bank account near empty so good to finish! The spring for helmet holder on R/H side of frame towards rear of seat is not fitted yet and I am a bit stumped on just how it supposed to fit. Perhaps a PO modified that area. Can someone send me a photo of...

    GS850G Brake Calipers

Steve: It is the inside of the groove where seal sits that is badly corroded so I really do need replacement caliper bodies. I checked some part numbers and GS1000G are the same as GS850G so if anyone has a pair of good caliper bodies I am keen to take them. The pistons that I have are good.

    GS850G Brake Calipers

I have almost finished my 1980 GS850 rebuild. When I rebuilt the front calipers I did know they were a bit (quite a bit) corroded behind and around the piston seal area. Well, they did not take up with new seals so more work and money needed. It is doubtful if any sleeving can be done to...

    Refurbishing 1980 GS850G Instruments

rustybronco: That is very good compared to the one that I have. I managed to find a used tachometer with fuel gauge here in Australia. It should arrive in next couple of days. If the gauge face is ok then I am good. If not I hope I can come back to you. A thousand thanks for checking
