    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The GSR: The last of the great forums?

This forum is the reason I've had three motorcycles over the last decade, and all of them have been Suzuki GSes. I might not even still be riding were it not for the support and guidance of the members here.

    Gs850 engine noise

It's almost impossible to diagnose engine noise from a cell phone video because the device "hears" and records things completely different from human ears. And in a lot of cases, it is difficult for even an experienced mechanic to accurately diagnose an engine problem even if they were standing...

    new gs850l owner

Some people don't care for the styling but those 850Ls are great machines. Fun to ride, cheap to own, and will easily outlast you with a bare minimum of maintenance. Welcome to the board!

    Bandits '77 GS750 Revival

That's a fascinating way to do it. I gotta keep that in mind.

    Appropriate pricing for a 79gs1000e

Heh, the regulars on this forum are used to getting bikes for free or nearly so. :) I would personally pay up to $500 for a project bike, a few hundred more if it was one I was after for some reason or another.

Yeah you can't come here and ramble on about how awesome your bike is without proof. :) Welcome!

    GSX1100EFE Rebuild

Ah yes, these are the kinds of threads I live for. Nice work!

    Bandits '77 GS750 Revival

One way to rule out lack of spark or compression is to dump a teaspoon or so of gas into the cylinders through the spark plug holes, quickly thread in the spark plugs, connect the wires and try to start it with half-open throttle. If it runs for a second or two and then dies, then you have spark...

Thanks! I'll look into that. To confirm, that would be this stuff, right...

    Repair cracked tool tray?

The good: the 850G I bought 2 years ago came with an above-the-battery tool tray. Hooray! The bad: It's cracked rather badly in three places. The ugly: I tried repairing it with 5-minute epoxy and apparently that's not at all the right stuff. Whoopsie. It did not adhere to the plastic at all...

    Rockauto Discount Codes

Code: 191407109105748578 Good until Jan 23, 2022 I've purchased new pads, rotors, and suspension components for virtually every vehicle I've owned through Rockauto. I started doing most of my own car maintenance after I got suckered out of $600 at a local shop in 2004 for a simple brake job...

    O-ring sizes, as promised.

Well now I feel bad that I don't check the forums nearly as often as I should. I hear about these things way too late. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Robert. And thank you for sharing your knowledge. Yet another reason why I love this community.

    Rotella T4,T5, or T6?

Many (perhaps even most) of us run Rotella T4 exclusively in our motorcycles and have for years. It's a great oil. Far better than even the best oils they made in 1982.

    Wheel bearings 1982 GS1100E

Agree with everyone else here, if they're fine, leave 'em. I personally am not too afraid of installing chinese wheel bearings as long they were from a reputable bearing dealer. They know bearings and they don't want to sell crap. Plus these motorcycles put a tiny tiny fraction of the load on...

I got the shaft today. :)

Neato! Same year/model as mine. When I bought it, it had an electronic ignition and new coils already installed. Then I swapped the head and carbs for a CV setup because I did not like the VM carbs. If the bolt spacing works (I haven't checked), I may swap out the front calipers for the '80...

Sold my 1982 GS650g and missing it!

The 650s are great. I'd like to have one some day. I think they've always lived in the shadows of the 850 and 1000, which is probably why they're not easy to find. They're not as well known and usually don't sell for much, so my theory is that when they do come up for sale, the choppers and...
