A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    GS750 blue

https://photobucket.com/gallery/user/crgot/media/bWVkaWFJZDoyNzAzOTgxNg==/?ref= I searched but no luck, anybody know this color? It does not have to be the Suzuki code but some other code from modern suppliers. All I have is this pic so I have no way of getting it matched at a paint shop. Thanks

    82' GS1100E with ZX wheels

If you mean the rotor, then as per FSM it is 115-123 ft/lb. also make sure no oil or grease on taper or rotor interface, and use red locktite on it! get your own manual for free here http://gsarchive.bwringer.com

    Powder coating a head

I use Gunkote on engines when I paint them, one of its uses is exactly that as it conducts heat.

Whats a decent paint job cost these days.

I get my paint at shop prices. Costs me way less than $600 for materials to do a body set, less than half that actually. I know I would never pay anybody $1000 to paint my stuff, however, I know how much time it takes me to do a body set and with today's labour rates I am not surprised to hear...

    engine swap, mount positions

If you are taking a gsxr engine out of a GS frame and putting in a GS engine then all you need is the factory mount plates. Typically the gsxr install into a GS fram is fabricated plates, usually no frame mods to the mounting areas. What GS model frame and year did you remove the gsxr engine from?

    1100 Katana possible evolutions

Why not go with the proven B12 swingarm? Why the swingarm change anyways? Mono shock or wider tires?

    1984 Katana 7/11

An observation Pete. It appears you were spinning the hone too fast and moving it up and down in the cyl too slowly. Slow down the spinning speed and speed up the stroking speed, this way you will typically end up with the desirable 45 degree cross hatch on your walls. I try to keep the rpm...

Airbox boots no longer fit to the carbs

Ok, I see you are talking about a 1000g and not the E, you never said that! https://www.partsoutlaw.com/oemparts/a/suz/50d40320f8700230d8b4e9e2/air-cleaner look here for them, item #11 and 12. No rings though, I know the 1100 GL has the rings.

Airbox boots no longer fit to the carbs

The "ring", item #3 forces the boot tight against the airbox, it keeps it there. As LAB3 says, remove the filter box, I also remove all bolts holding the airbox. It makes it way easier to get it attached to the carbs. Your boots may also be hard from age, new ones may be in order. The airbox...

    Rear shock shopping

+1 for British Cycle Supply. Great guys to deal with, he was able to get me parts for my VM33's at an excellent price, better than Z1 actually and was able to get me more genuine Mikuni parts! They are not just British parts!

    1982 GS1100 top end refresh

I guess I assumed you were going to install new rings, $45 a hole is not expensive! As Ray stated, new rings at the minimum. But he is absolutely correct about doing the refresh on the head, you can probably clean up the valves yourself and give them a light lap with lapping compound and...

    1982 GS1100 top end refresh

Nothing to worry about, and no, it is not excessive blow-by. Assuming and if they measure within spec, clean them up, deglaze cyl walls with bottle hone and reassemble. Use only OEM gaskets!

Quality replacement clutch for '79 gs1000

Problem with the aftermarket fibres are the backing material. Factory is aluminum, aftermarket is often steel. Your clutch basket is aluminum so if you think the grooves are bad from the factory fibres wait till you install the metal aftermarket ones:eek:

    83 GS1100esd fuel problem?

FSM, factory service manual. Fuel height is set to about 3-4 below max height as per the manual, so just below the top of the fuel bowl. A mm is getting harder for me to see these days:o, the eye doc just told me I need transition lenses, if I am closer than 16" it's getting to be blurry:(. My...

    83 GS1100esd fuel problem?

Here is the closure to the problem. Even though my floats were set to the 22.4mm height, my fuel height was below the FSM specs! Made the tooling to check it in order to find this out. Once heights were set, no more rising idle once the engine gets hot that could not be tuned out with the pilot...

Carb bowl drain bolt size/thread - CV carbs - and where to get?

I just picked up 4 of the drain bolts from a used parts place. Drilled #30 holes as it was a snug fit for #2(1/8") copper tubing and made my fuel height tooling. Worked great, helped me fix my carb issues. Even though my floats were set to spec, the fuel height was not where it was supposed to...
