A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Leaking Forks

Just like for brake rebuilds, it seems like most here say go OEM for fork seals as the best option otherwise they might leak after a while.

    Leaking Forks

I had some seals that weren't that old but started leaking. This time I bought OEM seals and new dust boots. The forks are completely disassembled now to clean everything good because I don't want to mess with this again. What brand name seals are coming from z1 or are they OEM? Rudeman...

Nice. A little creativity to get the job done.

    OIL LIGHT ON - Seriously

I had an oil light issue and started a thread about it. There was never a problem with my pump or clogged screen, etc. I ended up taking the plunger and screw off after examining the switch and installed a gauge bought from Renobruce. I like looking down and seeing the actual pressure (or...

    fork dampener holder tool?

This info should be made into a sticky note for anyone searching here before reading the tutorial on BikeCliff's website. These two solutions are proven and cost very little or nothing. No need to waste time when these two "tools" are ready either when you find your extensions or when you can...

    Don't order from Motorcycle Superstore

I've had issues when ordering from other companies, not always using PayPal, where the screen goes blank after you commit to pay. It never gets to the confirmation page. The companies have told me that they've had trouble with orders going through on certain browsers. I usually use Chrome...

HWY 421 "The Snake" Northeast Tennessee

Thanks. I appreciate the tip too. One of these years I intend to take the old bike on a road trip there.

Intake boots, come with vacuum port screws?

Cool. If they end up being spare screws they'll probably come in handy for other projects. The o-rings should be fine. Lightly coat them in something like dielectric grease and you should have no issues.

    REALLY suzuki? really?? Throttle cable...

:eek: Both routes will send your emotions through the roof, but the frustration from trying to squeeze the carbs in can just about make a grown man cry. :p

Good luck. Let us know what path you chose.

Intake boots, come with vacuum port screws?

If you haven't ordered yet Zach, hold off on those sync screws. The intake boots I bought from G&S came with new ones. I was simply going to re-use the old ones since they were fine. Don't forget to order 4 new o-rings though: 09280-38004

    REALLY suzuki? really?? Throttle cable...

I found a comfortable position to hold the throttle open with my left hand while getting the damn cable on. The best tool for me was a longer screwdriver and it was easy once I decided to be patient. I had it in position so many times but it was tough to keep it there. Walked away from it a...

    Amusing encounter

Good stuff Earl. She sounds sharper than most 20 years olds nowadays. I guess when I ride up your way I'll have to be on my best behavior. I don't want to get beaten by a cane......or dog food.

    1983 Suzuki GS750E

Yes, the battery may be the only issue. Most likely it is not. The fix might not be very costly if one is needed. Trust us, it is worth the down time to read the Stator Papers and take the relatively small amount of time to diagnose your charging system. Check and clean your connections and...

    1983 Suzuki GS750E

Welcome to the GSR. Let us know when you check what OldVet asks about. I assume the bike started fine when it left Connecticut. The battery may now be toast. When it's off the charger, see what voltage it holds. Then see if it will start the bike and how far the voltage dips. If you get it...

    Dyna coil mount

The spacers from mine were 1/2" long. The bolt/coil mount/spacer were held together by a nut leaving about 1/2" of bolt left. This was set on the mounting tab and secured with a washer and another nut underneath.

    Oil issue? Pump?

Definitely check the few things sedelen mentions. It is most likely the sending unit because of the near-foolproof pump design and considering how clean you say it looked inside. I had the same problem. I was trying to figure out the flow of oil in this thread along with solving my pressure...

    Dyna coil mount

I had the same issue. The plug wire boots were going to dig into the mounting tabs as well. The front mounting bolt was parallel with the connections instead of perpendicular. I ended up using the rearward mounting bolt as normal. I think then I used the front mounting bolt (without spacer)...

First Street Bike Project - with a few questions

I was thinking a toilet tank flush valve gasket might work but haven't measured either that or the gas cap yet. That's the one thing I have spares of that comes to mind.
