A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Spoke Wheel Lacing Tutorial

The spokes are from a '78 GS750. The hub and rim are from a '78 GS1000. The GS1000 had alloy rims while all other GS spoke models had steel wheels. The spokes for the alloy wheels are no longer available but the spokes for the GS750 are. The spoke nipples are slightly different but the spoke...

    Spoke Wheel Lacing Tutorial

After disassembling and re-lacing several GS wheels I finally figured out an efficient way to accomplish the task. It isn't hard but is like a puzzle that has to be assembled in a certain order. If you don't do it in this order you will need to remove already installed spokes to install other...

    Real Gaskets... over torqued?

Another tip for the Real Gasket. Make sure the gasket itself and the mating surfaces are clean and dry. Any oil will make it much easier for the gasket to slide out of place. Thanks, Joe

    Wolo Horn

There is an interesting horn test article in the latest Motorcycle Consumer News. They tested several horn brands and types, including the Stebel Nautilus and the Wolo Bad Boy. Their findings were that the loudest horns tested are the Hella SuperTones followed by the Fiamm high and low tone...

rim not centering on rear tire

+1....lots of lube. Also, try removing the valve stem from the tube to allow air to enter more quickly. You mention deflating the tire and re-filling but did you break the beads on both sides before re-filling? Try this as well. Yes, it can take significant pressure to seat the bead but be...

    spoons or straps?

Good point Chuck. However, garden hose is pretty thick and will probably make the job tougher. I cut up pieces of thick plastic jugs and use them as rim protectors. They are thin and slide in easily between the rim and spoon. Plastic milk jugs work okay but are a bit thin and the spoons can...

    spoons or straps?

Having done many tires I can offer a couple hints. First, get the tire warm if you can. This will make it more flexible and easier to mount. Second, use plenty of lube. Soapy water works as does Murphy's Oil Soap diluted with water. This will help the beads slide onto the rim. Third, and...

I have a spare fiberglass Katana fairing that I am having repaired and possibly painted. I will be selling it and want to have the biggest target audience as possible. Here are my questions: 1. Is the fairing the same for the '82 and '83 models? I believe they are but they are different part...

It's good work if you can get it!

Yes, we are both stoked about this opportunity. I've been wanting to do it for over a decade and the fact that Cathy gets to be part of it is just gravy. Thanks for the vote of confidence. The tours are great, more so for the participants than the leaders. The leaders have to do a lot of...
