If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Paint Color For Spoke Hubs?

I want to paint a '78GS1000 rear hub and would like to have it as close to original as possible. Has anyone found a paint color that is close? Looking at pictures it seems the hubs are close to the engine color so maybe VHT engine paint would be a good match? Thanks, Joe

    Spoke Question

No worries, Steve, I took your comment as a compliment. The J&P brush has a lot of good reviews, may be worth picking one up. Thanks, Joe

    Spoke Question

I think they would work. The only difference would be the depth of the drop center which shouldn't vary much. Also, they don't list a 17" rear if that's what you have. Thanks, Joe

    Spoke Question

Sorry, Steve..... You may want to consider replacing the spokes. You can swap spokes one (outer) or two (inner) at a time and it makes it much easier to clean the rim and hub while the spokes are out. Plus the plating on 35 year old spokes, which probably wasn't great to begin with, may...

    Spoke Question

Looking at these measurements I think the Mike's XS spokes would work, depending on how they measured the length. If measured from the center of the top to the bottom of the threads the GS750 spokes are about 7 1/2 inches long. The 64 spoke XS kit lengths range from 7 3/8 to 7 3/4 inches. You...

    Spoke Question

I think I am going to classify this project as a success..... Before: After: And, as usual, pictures don't do it justice. :D Thanks, Joe

    Spoke Question

Okay, the spoke kits for a '78 GS750 arrived today. Comparing them to the original '78 GS1000 spokes they are a bit different but I think they will work fine. First, they are slightly longer but it looks like they are not too long to use without cutting them down. Second, the nipples are shorter...

    Spoke Question

Here's the reply from Mike's XS about the 64 spoke wheel kit lengths: Thanks, Joe Ok 1st of the inners is 7 ? inches long the 2nd inner is 7 ? inches long. The 1st outer is 7 3/8 inches and the 2nd is 7 5/8 inches long they are all within ? of an inch of each other (that?s total length...

    Spoke Question

I measured the GS spokes, checked with Mike's and asked if they had anything similar. They said the closest was a set for a 64 spoke Heritage Special. However, the description for the spokes said there were two different lengths each for outer and inner spokes. The GS wheel has 36 spokes so I...

    Spoke Question

Front spoke set for '78 GS750, part number 55320-45000 - $53.66 from Boulevard Suzuki. $7.50 shipping. Buchanan's does not list prices for GS spoke kits (no longer pre-packaged) but Kawasaki KZ kits range from $104 to $115 so I'd guess GS pries would be around the same. Thanks, Joe

    Spoke Question

Sandy, Will do. I'll post results here once the parts arrive. Joe

    Spoke Question

Mr. Wazz was kind enough to take measurements from his '77 GS750. The measurements appear to be nearly identical to the measurements I took from the '78 GS1000 wheel, including the spoke wire diameter. I verified that the hubs are the same part number between the two. I went ahead and ordered...

    Coil Physical Size Question

Thank you Dale. Now, should the coils for that bike be 3 ohms? Joe

Tom presented another good point, the wire size. My spokes measure about 3.16mm in diameter. Thanks, Joe

    Spoke Question

I'm looking for spokes for a '78 GS1000 front wheel. They are discontinued by Suzuki and not available. However, spokes for a '78 GS750 are available. I know the GS750 had steel rims while the GS1000 had aluminum rims but I believe the hubs are the same. If so, shouldn't the GS750 spokes work...

    Coil Physical Size Question

My Katana has Andrews coils and wires but came with what were supposed to be the OEM coils and wires. I compared them this evening and found that the supposedly OEM coils have different mounting hole spacing than the mounting holes on the bike. The bike holes measure about 88mm and the coils...
