A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    R.I.P. Ozzy

No Rest For The Wicked was the only cassette I had for my walkman on a long road trip. Just played it over and over. Then saw him with Anthrax on that same tour in 1988. I sold my Atari 2600 at a yard sale to buy a concert ticket and two tiny little square pieces of paper.:p:rolleyes: I think...

    Painting Bike parts

That seems pretty straightforward, but very tedious. The decal on your tank in particular looks perfect to me. I really like the decal in my '83 850G, as opposed to the '82 GK so I may mix it up a bit. Thankfully, I am able to use these tanks as examples. I think they're the same exact tank...

    Painting Bike parts

Nice. Thank you! I built a spray booth, or room rather as it's almost 200 square feet. There's no heat or AC there so I'll have to find time when the temperature is within reasonable range to work in. Right now it's almost 90 in there. I Used a 550 CFM negative air machine for exhaust and made...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

No pics, but I sure enjoyed riding for a while this evening. My 850 has developed a bit of a flat spot between 7k-7500 rpms. Almost feels like it has a governor. I haven't ridden much this year, surely that can't be good for the carbs. Getting caught up in the business of life, it's easy to...

    Painting Bike parts

I've been lurking on this thread, hoping to gleen enough from all of the great discussions to tackle a paint job sometime soon. What steps did you omit or add to your original plan? Yours is looking great, btw.

    Cylinder swap, 79 GS750 to a 81 GS850?

If you search for 750/ 850 swap that brings up plenty of good reading. Like this thread.https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forum/technical-forums/-4-cylinder-engine-drivetrain-clutch/58383-750-850-swap-noob

    Carb choke rail lever needed...

Part number eighty on my GK has a shiny spot on it where something rubs against it. The bike is a (slow) work in progress so I don't know what rubs, probably a cable as you say. Without the shield I'm guessing constant throttle linkage movement would wear through the cable, and/or interfere with...

Hey Zak. Welcome aboard! That's interesting, the 850 was given to you if you WOULD do the cafe project. Often it's the other way around with a plea not to. I really like the '83 850G and have been through a dozen or so states so far on mine. Doesn't sound like you intend to put in long days on...

    Questions for the HVAC guys

Thanks for chiming in, dorkburger. Also JMHJ and Rich82GS750TZ . Indeed, this was another lesson in why we do our own work on things. I can't be so proud as to not accept help from anyone, being a bit more careful about who I use OTOH is the takeaway here. i am actually grateful for the other...

    1983 gs850G valve cover breather

It's not supposed to be fine steel wool. That would be too dense and just plug the passage. The stock mesh stuff is more like chore boy scouring pad that's porus enough to let gasses through, but catch the oil as Dgates1 mentioned. Do you have an air box or are you running pod filters?

For me, the obsession...er..um...I mean enthusiasm for taking pictures of my bikes and playing photo games started with this pic. I posted it to answer the challenge by Jedz123 in the riding game thread.

    Questions for the HVAC guys

I did a quick pressure test last night with nitrogen and only got up to 50psi before noticing leaks, unfortunately that was no surprise. The system max pressure is 500lbs. Also I pulled the cover off of the coil on top of the furnace, and saw the pinched line on the low side. That was the 3/8...

    Questions for the HVAC guys

A few years ago we installed a new Goodman furnace with a 4 ton coil on it. We couldn't afford to complete the split AC system right then, so we left it for later. A year later, maybe two years ago, we remodeled our kitchen and I ran a gas line to the stove, removing the electric stove and...

Wow, didn't expext to win with that pic. I was chasing jackrabbits on the KLR that day. They're too quick in the corners for me. For this week's theme....... Park. (open for other interpretations as usual) 20171130_153318 by Roger, on Flickr
