A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Different handlebars

This makes sense. I've been on bikes where I'm too far forward and it makes my hands numb. I guess I just need to try all of them until I find one that is just-right. Salty listed a few good ones to try out. Ordered an Emgo euro bar. We'll see how that works out.

    Different handlebars

Thinking I may want to try some different handlebars. Something a bit more comfortable for longer rides. Not sure if this is true, but I read that I should be a little more forward, closer to the steering stem? Seems counter intuitive to me. Im currently running magna wide bars. But I’m...

    Long and Short Plug Boots

Update. The #2 plug is not short. Instead of remaking the plug wires, I considered just swapping the coils to different sides to get some extra slack on the short plug wire. I figured I should know how the firing sequence works before I disconnect everything. That's when I learned about the...

    Connector Pinout Question

Yea, it's like they were out of the white-green wire that day, so instead they went with yellow-blue. Makes troubleshooting electrical issues "interesting" to say the least.

    Connector Pinout Question

I ended up doing something similar. I carefully cleaned the wires with the connector still in-tact. Then made a diagram so I knew which wires went to which pins. They aren't color-for-color and there are two loop-back wires on one side. Once I was confident I had them accurately mapped I...

    Connector Pinout Question

82 GS1100 GK. Anyone know where on the wiring diagram I can find this particular connector? As you can see it's pretty bad off. I want to rebuild it but I'm not sure what condition it will be in once I manage to get the two halves separated. It would be nice to have a diagram just in case...

    Too good to be true?

Hence the title of this post. If was closer I'd go check it out.

    Too good to be true?

Agreed. I'm hoping someone else here will pick it up so I don't end up divorced by getting "just one more bike".

    Too good to be true?

Found this on a Suzuki Motorcycle FB group. Looks too good to be true. But if it's for real, then it's a steal. Looks like it might be in NC. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1VzXerqxAU/

    Luggage Rack Mounting Points

Here you go Redman . I repaired the front mounts on the rack and re-installed it. I ordered some of the factory 3-lobed brackets for the rear mount points. For now, the rack is fine as-is, but I can't put anything heavy on it for fear of damaging the front mount points again. Once I get...

Luggage Frame Brackets - 82 GK

Here's another picture from the parts diagram.

Luggage Frame Brackets - 82 GK

Before I go and oder a set of these from GB, I figured I'd check here and see if anyone has a set they'd be willing to part with. This is part #13 in the diagram below. It's the bracket that secures the truck rack to the frame on an 82 GS1100 GK.

    Luggage Rack Mounting Points

Flat stock is what I was planning to use. That was my original idea when I first mounted the rack. But I didn't do it, and I nearly broke the shock mount tabs because there wasn't enough support. I bought the bike without all of the luggage and fairings so I don't have any of the original...

    Luggage Rack Mounting Points

Ah, so this is where the rear upper rack mounts to the frame, via the three-lobed bracket. That's what I was looking for. This makes sense as the placement should provide the extra support needed for the weight of the trunk and cargo. I'll need to either get two of those brackets, or...

    Luggage Rack Mounting Points

Interesting. I don't have any downward facing lugs on the rear of the frame, but I do have an outward facing one on either side. Maybe we're talking about the same thing. I'd previously considered fabricating a strap, just like what you described, to support the back half of the rack to the...

    Luggage Rack Mounting Points

82 GS1100GK. Completely de-k'd, so I don't have any of the original luggage hardware. I did procure an OE luggage rack but I think I'm missing some mounting hardware. It look like the front mounting points have tangs that slide onto the upper shock mounts. And there's a bolt hole about 6"...

    GS550 BS32 carburetor vent lines

I will add that I also used to route mine over and behind the airbox, which I believe is the correct routing. However... In certain circumstances, high crosswinds, at highway speeds, can blow right into the space under the carbs and get "scooped" up behind the airbox. Because the vent tubes...

    82 650L #2 Cyl Inop (Can’t find answer)

When my petcock failed and flooded the #2 cylinder like Big T is stating, it still fired. It just smelled like gas all the time and quickly fouled out the plug. I would clean the plug and it would run great for a little while until it fouled again. I'd be inclined to believe the pilot jet is...

    Wireless Electric Guitar Question

I've used a wireless transmitter by Line 6 before, which operated at 2.4G, and I didn't have any issues with wifi interference. You should be good with either one. I've only used the one by Line 6 so I don't know about the one you have posted.

    GK Luggage Rack?

miked This is the only one I have currently. Right after this trip I had to take it off. Because of the way I had it mounted and the poor conditions of the roads that day, I ended up bending the "slots" on the front of it where it connects to the shock mount. There, and one bolt a little...
