A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    1982 Suzuki GS 650G

We all admire persistence …..and any progress is good. I’m not sure why you don’t want to get more done with the auxiliary tank to get it running longer…..to rule out tank/ petcock issues. Sitting for 5 years is going to require carb work or a miracle to restore decent running

1981 Suzuki GS650G - dies under load when throttled past ~1/3

The idle stop screw is hard to turn one way due to throttle spring pressure….hold throttle grip open to make it easier. I’d say that you got to get to a proper carb cleaning …you’ve failed to get lucky! These carbs need clean passages to have decent idle and a good transition to mid...

1981 Suzuki GS650G - dies under load when throttled past ~1/3

I’m getting confused here…..before you starting messing with coils, you said it was hard to start, but ran well…now with new plug caps ,it starts easily, but no power. I’d first get new petcock , to rule it out as a problem and move on to proper carb cleaning stuff ….dirty carbs will give you...

    Fuel/vac line routing

There is also a nipple on the motor side of carb 2 with nothing on there. I need to know for sure which lines go where from the petcock and what to do with that nipple on carb #2. zz0.1un3eb7zlpszz edit: this site is fighting me today! there are two vent hoses that just hang over back of carbs

    81 GS750E - Missing at Idle & Low RMP

Get some hoses that fit on petcock…one for the fuel outlet and one for the vacuum line to #2 carb. In “ON” spot no fuel should flow thru outlet hose …unless vacuum is applied thru the vacuum connection. If you carefully suck on vacuum line, fuel should flow, but it fuel is spotted in vacuum line...

    81 GS750E - Missing at Idle & Low RMP

Good time to check vacuum petcock for correct operation. I fit fails and leaks gas into #2 cylinder, you got a 3 cylinder bike at low rpms . Likely clears at higher rpms. Shame on you for putting up with this for years !

Shift pedal not returning to center

When you played with clutch, you misaligned something. Note in that link to beware wrong gasket thickness.

1981 Suzuki GS650G - dies under load when throttled past ~1/3

I’d get new plug caps …..remove old ones and snip off about 3/8 inch off plug wires - this gets you fresh copper for the new caps to bite into. With 5k ngk caps the overall resistance cap to cap will drop to about 23kohm. this is a good time to check your mechanical advance on your signal...

    1980 Suzuki GSX400 Choke issues

“…can usually get it started by giving it throttle with the choke off, and after 10-15 seconds of throttle, it will idle.“ so it idles nicely after this startup hesitation ? About how long is starter motor cranking with 1/4 “choke” applied?
  11. T

    Dry plugs

Apply full “choke” and use no throttle during cranking

    1986 GS450L New Battery - No Power

Check the 15 amp fuse in battery area……use a multimeter to make sure it has power from it to harness

    1980 GSX400E Starting issues

”The bike only starts with the choke on, and even then, only about half the time.“ I’d drop each fuel bowl and make sure the “choke” pickup tube is not partially clogged from 6 months idleness.

Electrical gremlins are starting to happen… I am so confused.

You need to charge the battery up and do the Quick Test. A bad r/r could train battery, but it’s unusual, so don’t blame it just yet. you didn’t respond to my question about kickstand switch

    Suzuki GS650e 1983 Throttle Cable

Skip the adjustable bike shop cable and get correct part as it will make things easier to hook up.

Electrical gremlins are starting to happen… I am so confused.

Charging issues are real common….do the Quick Test in this link and see how yours is behaving. This offers clues to turn signal issues and only takes 10 minutes https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?164993-Charging-System-QUICK-TEST the neutral light might be just bad...

Have no fear, you’ll soon be an electrical genius thanks to Suzuki. you’ve been riding , so what failed first? is this bike new to you? what maintenance have you done? here’s a wiring diagram to whet your appetite. http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/images/GS1100G_1982_wiring.jpg

    Two bad SH775???

”With regards to KIWI post (#5) above, shouldn't (good) diodes in the R/R stop any reverse current flow from the battery through the R/R to the shorted stator windings?” yes……

    82 1100ez vacuum petcock question

”…..Many think there is a RES. tank, but that ain't right. If the inlet tube for "on" is too long, it will make you need to go to RES. sooner, with more gas left for the RES“ And different petcocks have different inlet tube lengths…my 650L original petcock would need to go into RES quickly ...
