A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Fuel gauge is all crazy.

Although it's probably not the problem, since you say everything else works fine.......this will also happen if the battery gets too low. It was the first sign I had on my 850L that the R/R had gone out. I was out on a longer trip and you could literally watch the gas gauge go down while...

Need a quiet exhaust for Germany

    Desprate quick fix needed

Just let it sit overnight. It will most likely swell and seal. My 850 used to be like that. It would drip quite a bit of fuel after the carbs were installed and filled up. I would just let it sit......by the next morning it had stopped and wouldn't leak anymore.......until the next carb tear...

floats adjusted to specs. but not working right

Unless maybe the float height was incorrectly measured.....maybe took measurement between the wrong two surfaces???? Don't know the proper height for that model, but should be checked at the following surfaces:

    petcock noise

Did you maybe re-route the hoses differently when you changed it out? Maybe they are what's vibrating / whistling in the wind when you ride. I haven't run across a whistling petcock yet, but I guess it is possible. :-\\\ <-- Smiley, goes by the name of Petcock!

Need a quiet exhaust for Germany

Hey John, I don't know what USAREUR regulations are right now for bikes, it's been a while since I used to live there and a lot of things have changed since then. Are they actually making you go through the TUV, or do they just have you take the bike through an inspection at the facility on...

    GS Sightings

I caught a glimpse of what I believe was a YellowFranks yesterday on I-20, outside of Birmingham, heading East. It's a real honor to be able to see such a rarity in the flesh. I truly feel blessed. Too bad I was headed the opposite direction, or I might have been able to stop and chat with...

    1977 GS750 carb woes

Bike stopped. Bike diagnosed. Need a 2nd opinion.

I've run into this before myself, and I'll bet it's the (automotive) fuel filter you installed. About 4-5 miles was all I'd get with the gas in the bowls (and the minimal amount passing through the filter) before it'd die due to lack of fuel. Just to see if it's an issue, remove the filter...

Bike wants to flop down in turns.

Well, If he would've ridden it fast enough to heat it up good, he might've gotten it up to 6 psi!:-D

    1978 Gs750e

The points are very easy to set. There's several threads already in the tech section on how to do so......look for one typed up by Earlfor. Also, if you are sure your points are good (I'd invest in a new set, they're about $8 each) and properly adjusted, you could also have bad condensor(s)...

Engine does not start after carb clean

It could be it's running too rich right now, after the carb cleaning. Plugs can be carbon-fouled (be black, looks like the porcelain is covered with powdery soot) and not be wet. Are you sure you set the float levels correctly? You do have a proper (and clean) air filter installed, right...

    Non starter GS650G

Only thing that I can think of offhand that has two spade connectors at right angles, is your blinker relay. But that would not be the cause of the bike not "running" unless there is other electrical/wiring damage.

    front master cylinder rebuild

There's a little circlip under the rubber boot, you'll have to remove that first. It's probably hidden under a bunch of crud and can't be seen. Clean the area up first with liberal amounts of WD-40 and try to remove the built up crud....you should be able to see it then.
