DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Checking coils, got a shock!

Does it say anything on them? What color are they? Do the plug leads seperate unplug from the coils at the coil? So far, all the 'stock' coils I've seen are either in a black casing, or a flesh/beige colored casing. On the stock ones, you cannot unplug the leads at the casing/coil.

    Checking coils, got a shock!

Billy - that value is while checking with the plug caps on, right? If he was checking without plug caps (-10k for the set), AND his coils are aftermarket, then he would be OK....on the low side, but ok.

    Clogged hole in Carb 3

That wouldn't cause the bike to run rich. But it would, if clogged, make your #3 cylinder hard to start. The bike probably only started on 3 cylinders, and the 4th (your clogged #3) probably didn't kick in until the engine was warmed up.

    New boots! Still won't idle.

Mr. Mikey.... Does it at least idle now without cutting out? You may have cleared some blockage that didn't get eliminated before in one of your previous cleanings. Or you may have a float and/or needle valve stuck in the open position.

    Carburator Help

Take the filter off. Run that fuel line into a ittle container, no fuel should be passing at this time. Apply suction/vacuum to the vacuum line going to the petcock, now, the fuel should pour out freely. Eventually, you need to get the petcock rebuilt/replaced if it is truly stuck in down...

    GS450L Front brake stuck! Help!

If the brakes aren't "physically" binding at the caliper, due to dirt, some other obstruction, etc, then it's your master cylinder. Underneath your brake fluid reservoir, on your front master cylinder (I'm assuming you have the round white plastic reservoir style), you have the circular round...

    IT LIVES!!! er, sort of.....

Kevin, Not saying that it WILL work, but try leaving the T there were it is a day or two, if it's not leaking too badly. Have had that happen a few times on some bikes myself when the carbs have been disassembled long enough for the carb-to-carb fittings to dry out.. It almost always solved...

    '82 GS850L Stalling problem

That is not an area in which I am very knowledgeable, I've never had problems with any of my signal generators/ignitor boxes, etc. Others here are more knowledgeable about this area than I am, but I would have thought that if the problem did lie in that area, that your bike would not be, as you...

    '82 GS850L Stalling problem

You stated that the carbs were cleaned by the shop that you just took the bike to. Right now, I'm going to give the mechanic the benefit of the doubt and assume he gave the carbs a good and proper cleaning. If the plugs are completely white and dry when you pull them after a 1/2 hour ride, the...

    '82 GS850L Stalling problem

It could be lean for a variety of reasons: missing or un-oiled foam air filter, intake leaks, lean mixture screw settings. If your plugs are bone white, it's too lean, you want a a brownish/greyish plug color. And to do that (check plug color) right, you should do plug chops at various...

    '82 GS850L Stalling problem

Glad to hear that it seems to be running better......but I don't quite agree with the above statement. It still sounds to me like it's set up on the lean side - there shouldn't be a 400 rpm difference in idle speed. Keep an eye on your headers....if they start discoloring/turning gold, it's...

    1982 Gs1100l

Bike running fine, but then suddenly one cylinder (#3) too rich...... My first guesses: 1) Rust/debris not allowing float valve to close 2) Main jet might have been loose, came undone and fallen into your bowl.

    '82 GS850L Stalling problem

If the bike is running fine (on all 4 cylinders) the entire time that you're riding, and none of the plugs are wet with fuel or fouled, I don't think the coils are the issue. It appears the only time that you have a problem is when you stop the bike......and the idle speed tends to drop down to...

Need help with 1979 GS1000 forks

I'm not as blessed as Robin and don't have access to a welder, so I just counter-tightened 2 19mm nuts (or 3/4") on each end of a 18" pc of threaded rod.:-D
