A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Getting a title in PA--International Title Service?

If you can't get around the "notarizing" deal, then look into getting a surety bond on the bike. Your local DMV office may not be able to help you with this, or even know what the hell you're talking about. Start right off with the state DMV. Tell them your situation. If the process is the...

    Dunlop K627

Just checked, the DOT date code says "1900". Guess that would make it 2000 mfg?? 8O 8O 8O

    Dunlop K627

Well hell, John. Had to give him some time to put a bunch of miles on the tire, didn't I? :D :D :D Lynn, I have to say, I'm not really happy with mine. This was on the rear when I bought the bike from Michael, at that time it seemed it had just minimal wear......still very useable. Now...

    Dunlop K627

Lynn, how did that tire of yours hold up? I have the K627 on my GS1100 rear, and I can visually watch the tread disappear after every 100 mile ride. Was wondering if you had the same experience.

    New regulator, voltage too high?

As thanks for your pointing me in the right direction, Lynn, you now have a 3 month grace period, where I will NOT pick on you. Might not seem like much, unless you happen to hang out in the "Off-Topic" or the "By Special Invitation" sections of the forum........there it could come in pretty...

How do you overhaul front master cylinder

There is a circlip in there under the rubber dust boot. It's probably hidden under a bunch of "corrosion" and hard to see. Clean it up first with some cleaner and a little pick.....should be fairly easy to get to then.

    New regulator, voltage too high?

Well, you got to give credit where credit is due I would've never thought that my #$*&^@# *&&$ @#$%#+&* ^%&$@! *&$^% ^$&%*^%& piece of shit multimeter would have gone bad. OK, it isn't the best of them, but nevertheless a Craftsman multimeter (roundabouts $30). I had an old cheap $10...

    New regulator, voltage too high?

I'm running into the same problem here. The R/R (Electrex) on my 850 died - would not charge the battery at all any more. Did the stator papers check, stator passes with flying colors, the R/R did not. I ordered a CX500 r/r off of ebay. Hooked it up as follows: 3 yellows from r/r to 3...

As if we don't have enough carb threads already.........

OK, still don't know what the deal is with the carbs' inserts. But I got the problems worked out. The hesitation/stuttering kept getting worse to where it was happening all the time at all throttle settings. New points didn't solve the problem - but replacing the condensers made a world of...

    gasket maker for stator cover?

Get yourself a roll of gasket material from an auto parts store and make your own. The roll will come in handy down the road for other projects.

    where's the needle jet?!

It will slide out. You have to unscrew the main jet off of the bottom, and remove the washer underneath that jet. Then you can tap it out from the bottom...............and that's no BS :D :D

As if we don't have enough carb threads already.........

Lynn, No broken tips on these carbs at all. The pilot screws (that were in the carbs) all come to a nice point (very sharp). The length of these pilot screws is 25 mm's (I just measured them - and the length of the pilot screws from previous set of carbs was 28 mm's). The pilot hole is not...

As if we don't have enough carb threads already.........

For the carb guru's out there, I have a question. I have a set of carbs on my GS1000 ( '78 ) that I just cannot get adjusted quite right. This set (which is perfectly clean) that is currently on the bike has little red plugs/inserts in the carb throats where the pilot jet hole enters the...

    Original Paintwork query

Re: Paintwork Re: Paintwork Yes, it's my bike, and the paint is original. About half the people that see it say it looks more purple than blue. It's definately darker than the pastelish color that cerm78 has on his bike. Two other views:

Bowl levels are the same, sooooo.....

If you can't tell from riding the bike, whether all 4 cylinders are firing, a quick way to check to see if the cylinders are actually firing is to put a drop or two of water about halfway down the header pipe. I use a little plastic syringe - it helps prevent me from getting burnt. Put it up...
