A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is the clutch sleeve or inner hub supposed to move on the axle?

I'm chasing a loud rattling sound on my gsx1100 engine. Since everyone says its the springs on the rear of the basket I bought a kit with new upgraded springs and I replaced those and welded it up again today only to find the rattle noise isn't gone. One thing I noticed tho when assembling it...

DIY Rearset designs, anybody? GS Shaftys or whatever

I have modified a set from a gsx-r1100. I think this image has enough resolution for you to zoom in on it . https://postimg.cc/75Gy5qN6 But basically we removed the stock ones and all the stock stuff, welded on new plates to rear tubes with suitably sized nuts welded on the rear for fastening...

    1980 550L - Pods + 4into1

Thats what they say, but my motor needed bigger pilots, two sizes up, I could not get it to ride decent at low throttle until I got bigger pilots. But I think the 80's engines where setup pretty lean from factory if what I've read is true.

Flat Spot and Hanging Idle - Another CV Question (with my apologies)

If your running one cylinder with more fuel than the others then that might be why it's running high on idle. From my experiments with the mixture screw one full turn can be the difference between idling and not idling or stuttering and stopping. So I'm thinking if one cylinder is at peak...

    1980 550L - Pods + 4into1

The dynajet kit is gonna sort your main jet out but they don't come with pilot jets. I'm one size up and still not rich enough, installing another size up tomorrow and hoping to be in the ballpark. That's two sizes up from stock, in line with the info found in the stickied pods thread

    Gsx1100 Won't idle lower than 1500rpm

I've played around with needle position yes. But it doesn't explain why my idle is so high.

My new project thread: 78' GS750

So this is how it looks right now, it ended up perhaps more like the way it used to be. But this has alot of metallic in it. You can really see it in this video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CrOsJfTryV6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Was also invited for this years MC Messen (big motorcycle...

My new project thread: 78' GS750

Nothing like an update and thread revival every couple of years right? :dancing: Sorry guys, life seems to be throwing me some curveballs. But lets continue this. So after the last pictures, the bike was picked out to be on stand with the Norwegian Caferacers and Customs group at the Oslo...

    Gsx1100 Won't idle lower than 1500rpm

Not uncommon to increase pilot jet as well as main jet when doing pods and exhaust. The idle right now is about 0.9 lambda, so just on the rich side, but as soon as you start to move, riding at about 1/8-1/4 throttle it runs lean. And seeing how far out I need to set the mix screws just to get...

    Gsx1100 Won't idle lower than 1500rpm

I use the stage 3 main jets but the pilots are too lean. I've synced the carbs but it still won't idle lower

    Gsx1100 Won't idle lower than 1500rpm

2024 edit: solution in post #13. Assuming my tacho is correct , My gsx1100 engine won't idle below 1500rpm. If I try to set it lower it'll just run for a few seconds before it leans out and dies. (observed with a wideband o2 sensor) There's no issues with the idle as long as I set it a bit...

More '82 GS1100E love from Yammie Noob

I remember the same feeling of "I think I'm gonna die" after riding my gs750 for the first time after I got my license and being used to a modern gsr600, it wouldn't turn, wouldn't brake and the whole thing was just crap! Turns out all that was just because of neglect, after sorting out the...

My new project thread: 78' GS750

That was my number 1 concern and to be honest I've only ridden it properly one trip on regular roads but didn't bottom out actually. I'm sure if I take it up in the mountains I could probably make it scrape on some of the damaged roads we have. So to be on the safe side I'm planning on...

My new project thread: 78' GS750

Four years since last update.... Okay here goes, I didn't manage to muster up any motivation until last year, and spent the spring and summer getting it done only to find out that due to the clutch release mechanism being where it is on the 750/850 engines you can't space out the front sprocket...

    Basket Springs

So you can use a mig welder right? You don't have to tig the rivets back on? I just got new hd springs and rivets from suzukiperformanceparts.co.uk. Was hoping i could complete the job without having to outsource to someone with a tig welder
