A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Goodbye Garmin? Maybe the App has finally arrived?

Lots of apps have offline maps, google maps is one, among the better are HERE for example. With offline maps and route planning. I have a couple of Sony Xperia Z series smartphones which are waterproof. And one shouldn't be messing with a phone or a gps while driving a motorcycle anyways so...

How much can you bore an 850?

I don't think something like Wiseco pistons f.ex would cost that much extra if you wanted 16mm wrist pins instead of 18 as I believe most their stuff is machined and made to order anyways. At least when I bought forged ones for my Datsun truck they where made to order and not that much more...

What final drive ratio should I go for with a 17" wheel conversion?

I'd say good thing we got them online calculators ;-):-D

How much can you bore an 850?

Well, there where sold some gsx1100 bikes here though, so that's one option.

How much can you bore an 850?

No my bike has always been chaindrive. It's originally a 750 but with 850 cylinder block and head

How much can you bore an 850?

Yeah but I need a chain driven engine, not shaft. Haven't been able to find an overbore kit for the 850 either, that's why I'm asking here if anyone knows anything.

How much can you bore an 850?

I'm having a hard time getting a hold of a 1000 engine so I'm starting to wonder if I should just keep my 850 and spruce it up instead. Cam/headwork and some higher compression pistons, and overboring? But how much and where do you get piston kits for these?

Effects of E10 and E20 fuel on the GS engines?

So the Norwegian government in their infinit wisdom has stated that during the course of 2018 all regular fuel sold is gonna contain a 10% blend of ethanol as opposed to the 3.5-5% of today. And finally in 2020 it will be a bumped up to 20%. So this has caused quite a stir her among mc and...

Doing... did ... the ton on an 81 GS450E

Did it the last time my 850 was on the road, most scary bike moment ever, was pretty squirmish the entire bike so I quickly let down and returned to normal speeds. My sv1000s though does the ton with an uncanny calm stature, even pushed it to an indicated 220km/h and not a thing, solid a set...

What final drive ratio should I go for with a 17" wheel conversion?

If you know how long one 530 link is, can you take a piece of string and wrap it around like a chain and then measure how long it is and divide it by the length of one link to find out roughly how many links you need? Maybe add some extra and remove the excess if need be....

What final drive ratio should I go for with a 17" wheel conversion?

Btw. Does anyone know how long of a chain I'm gonna need? Or how I can figure that out?

What final drive ratio should I go for with a 17" wheel conversion?

Yes that's why I was thinking of going up to a 17 front, a 19 would probably get even more clearance as you say. Thanks for the help guys!

What final drive ratio should I go for with a 17" wheel conversion?

Rear tire size would be 180/55-17 for the Bandit 5.5" rear wheel. I was thinking about a 17/46 or 17/47 combination, that's 2.7 and 2.76 respectably. @steve my incentive for the change is looks and hopefully performance. I've swapped the front end out with a sv1000s fork and will be doing...

What final drive ratio should I go for with a 17" wheel conversion?

I've been fiddling with a bandit swingarm and wheel and now I'm gonna order sprockets and chain but I'm not completely sure what size sprockets I should go with. My bike is a 750 with a 850 cylinder and head. Stock gs750 gearing is 15/41 for a 2.7xx final drive ratio, the stock bandit 1200...

My new project thread: 78' GS750

I don't think it will rub on the frame with a 520 chain, I think I've seen another here do that. It was close but it worked. Even with a narrower tire the rear sprocket is still in the same place, so would need a negative offset rear sprocket in order to get the chain further from the frame

My new project thread: 78' GS750

Yeah it's a 180tire so same as most gixxers although I think newer ones use a 190(at least the 1000). I might have to go with a 160 or 170 depending on the clearance of the chain. My grand plan is sourcing a gs1000 engine and boring it out to about 1200cc with high compression pistons and a...
