A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

83 GS1100E chain and sprockets upgrade??

I've seen both recommended but I went with 18t.

    1982 GS750E 530 Chain Conversion

I don't know if this is helpful as I have an 1150efe. I thought the the lower cases are the same size but I could be wrong, I required a spacer for my conversion. The chain then made contact with the peg hanger, I removed two washers on the hanger to gain clearance and reversed the rear...

    High speed wobble?

I've learned to keep both hands on the bars at all speeds on my 84 GS1150. I've heard criticism of my other ride a 79CBX for sketchy handling and it was somewhat true, but nothing like I've had on my GSX.

Tip on how to "easily" get your carb rack back into the boots

on the GSX ...New rubbers, grease, heat gun, sometimes a strap...and a lot of cursing seems to help. On my CBX with 6carbs removal or installation goes way beyond difficult. Removal requires tilting the engine, I discovered I could use the reverse technique to install. Line up carbs between air...

    1984 GS1150ef rebuild!!! renew!!

Final version I went back to my red fibreglass tail cowl, the extra splash of red balances the front imo. The alloy cowl is stored away if I want go back to it later. Of coarse my builds are never really completed, modifications are always in progress. Another 2 years before I've reached the...

    1984 GS1150ef rebuild!!! renew!!

Frustrated by the awkward frustrating requirements of the forum for posting photos I shifted my project thread over to OSS. I completed the fairing conversion transformation to alloy. A steep learning curve and mega frustration but I got there, 8 months. It's solid, quieter and has better air...

So how often should our gear armor be replaced?

I didn't wait for my Joe Rocket armour to deteriorate I upgraded to D30 armour. Great value and it's not that expensive and much better than what comes in the Joe Rocket.

    :highly_amused: oops I didn't notice that

High cruise rpm, what do I have?

I'd say someone has swapped the oem sprockets out. I just changed my sprockets for better cruising range on the highway, as I have it now I should have a top end of 160MPH, rpm at cruising/highway speeds is in the 3 to 4K rpm range. I gave up some acceleration but I have enough added hp to make...

what did you wrench on today??

I've heard of people using that to balance tires.

what did you wrench on today??

Converted my 630 oem to 530 on my GS1150. As I have more than sufficient hp and torque I thought I'd change the rear sprocket size to 43T for better fuel range. I suspect I may have gone too small but I'll go with it for now and see it performs today once I complete the final reassembly. I've...

what did you wrench on today??

Same here, the oem fairing on my efe was off when it left the factory. Corrected that when I made my alloy fairing.

What is the weight of a complete 1983 GS1100e engine vs Bandit 1200 engine?

why is it scary to ride, twitchy handling? Vintage bikes often handle better when staying with oem tire sizes. I have weighed my parts I just forget to write it down so I don't have a spot on tally, I may do that today. I know my forks are far heavier than bandit forks but I've converted them...

What is the weight of a complete 1983 GS1100e engine vs Bandit 1200 engine?

The dry weight of an 84 efe is if I recall 524 lbs. Weighing all the parts I've removed and replaced from my 84 efe my efe should now be about 480 lbs, I haven't done an accurate tally lately. I also added an estimated 20-25 hp, I figure my efe will perform quite well compared to a newer bandit...

How fast is is your old GS?

I'm confident my '84GSX1150e will hit it's max with no problem. I've added about 20 extra hp and lowered it's weight by 30-40lbs. My mechanic did carb tune and test run and said it did 200km/125mph easily. Factory recorded top speed was 145mph, I've no doubt it will match that and more once I...

GS spares are quiet plentiful you just gotta know where to look.

Where to get oversize pistons for GS1000??

They have a tarnished reputation, often not responding back to address any issue the customer may have with the product. If it's not too late I'd stay away. I'm going here for my overbore https://www.suzukiperformancespares.co.uk/product/suzuki-gsx1100-efe-1230cc-big-bore-kit/2810/
