If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

what did you wrench on today??

Discovered my rear wheel was locked up , frozen brake pistons I spent a day working on it no success, calipers are junk now. I had a Honda caliper and hanger in a bin but it didn't play nice with GS1150e suzuki swingarm, with a lot of cursing and effort I made it fit. Today I'll torque the bolts...

Makes a nice pair alongside the Kat. Its a survivor, the CBX owners have had an opportunity to strip off the better upgrade components.

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

The debt thing is an issue for many of us as we age out/ burn out I was in the same position until recently. Now debt free with good monthly pension I can buy anything I want but I like being debt free, it feels good. Does it make financial sense for me to buy an ev, probably not. If I do it'll...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

It's defined as a scooter I don't know how something that has a top end of 130kph is called a scooter. 130kms is acceptable range for urban transport as it is, converted to Solid state in the future it could be ideal with better range, quicker recharge time and power.

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

I was referring to what we'll be calling the new ev cycles, motorcycles or something else. They'll be existing side by side for quiet some time.

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

We don't refer to cars as horseless carriages anymore. It'll still have an motor, electric just not ICE. Will our big boy egos still feel the need to separate our big ev cycles from the little scooter/bike commuters. We'll find out in 10-15 years where this goes.

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

20yrs is pretty good, the average ICE has a 10-11 yr lifespan. With Tesla rentals attaining 400,000 miles that's way more than the typical ICE. Million mile batteries are are projected to be not far off. Will car chassis that houses the battery disintegrate before the battery dies? Is this...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Toyota's time line for Solid State batteries. I think Solid state needs to happen for cars before the technology trickles down to motorcycles, producing cars is a much more lucrative market than motorcycles. Honda or possibly a Chinese battery manufacturer may lead the way with SS for...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Generations? you need to keep abreast of battery technology, one Chinese battery developer claims it's already achieved 20ish minutes with it's solid state prototypes and is aiming for 7-8 minutes that's about the time I spend at an ICE fuel up not including food and pee breaks. Toyota has it's...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Excellent point. 98-99% of my rides are now less than 80miles, those will be urban miles. I know longer have any interest in epic journeys or even weekend adventures. Occasional my brother in law will want to do a day cruise through the neighbouring Rockies but that's as far as I go from home...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Infrastructure is growing quickly it's only a matter of time and momentum. Doubling of range would be great but I think even a 50% improvement would do it depending on which bike we're talking about. My bro in law is looking for a fuel up at 100 mi with his HD and there are other ICE bikes...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Local prices may have something to do with it, once the home electrical bills become a burden people will begin looking for other options. When I was in Hawaii I was amazed at how many homes already had solar panels. Without major rivers to dam electrical 80% of its power comes from imported...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

You could top the trees that cast shade on the barn roof, doesn't hurt the tree, encourages lower branch growth and the tree is less likely to be toppled in a storm. I don't understand the opposition to turbines maybe there's a noise issue but on a rural setting that shouldn't be a problem...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

I'd say you're in an enviable position, not only do you have the right situation but the electrical knowledge to make it a reality. Solar panels/tiles on the barn? An ev with average range may free you from fuel costs for 98% of your transportation needs. I base that on estimates that most...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

I have a friend who is a chemist specializing in industrial contamination of waterways, he's given advice to countries all over the globe, China, Egypt, Russia, and here in Canada. I spoke to him about our local river system which he said was laden with toxins/carcinogens from open pit oil sand...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

I was a local dealer a couple weeks ago many used bikes for a lot more than that. I think we only need Solid State batteries to arrive and we're there, range power and fast charge time. We'll probably get a better idea when thats going to happen when we see Honda install SS batteries in it's...

Older ICE technicians will die off with the ICE's The younger techs will adapt as you suggest to the new technology. It might be the demographics of the region where you live and who you know. Where I live $100,000 pickups and cars are common and I know a number of people who think nothing of...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Depending on model of Tesla the performance figures 0-60 range from 2 sec to 3.5. I've come across one claim the roadster is 1.1 sec, not sure I believe that I thought the roadster was out of production. Regardless if it's sub 4 secs that's super-car acceleration. A fast on a bike will always...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

I get it, what I do is take a couple steps back and look at how far technology has come in my lifetime, when you stand too close you don't appreciate the speed of advancement. Announcements on new battery and ev technological are now a weekly occurrence knowledge is growing at an incredible...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

I agree with all of that. Do I know many people that can afford an hybrid or ev? I would guess most people that I know could, but if they have a an ice that works perfectly fine and they're not in a hurry to take on extra payments and insurance why would they. Some people like me drive the same...
