A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Turn signals inop. They have voltage to both sides?

Ah,,so! I assume you mean that they don't flash when both sides are on. The only commonality I see between the left and right turn signal lamps is the turn signal switch, the turn signal indicator light in the instrument cluster, and their grounds. What I would try to narrow down on the problem...

Turn signals inop. They have voltage to both sides?

"I can't figure out why I'm getting power to both sides when I switch it to either L or R and I don't know why I have power on both sides of the relay if there is no ground being sent from the switch " I'll take a crack at this, but be assured, I might be off base f and cross eyed from trying...

    Two bad SH775???

Glad to hear the problem is solved With regards to KIWI post (#5) above, shouldn't (good) diodes in the R/R stop any reverse current flow from the battery through the R/R to the shorted stator windings? Anyone?

Unless I missed it, might want to mention year/make/model.

    GSX 250 starter solenoid issue

Just for future reference I just tested resistance in my 44 year old solenoid. With the solenoid completely disconnected and laying on the bench, I read 3.5 ohms across the control circuit. With voltage applied across the control circuit to activate the solenoid, I read 0.1 ohms across the big...

    GSX 250 starter solenoid issue

If you pay attention to which of the two circuits of the solenoid that YouTubeer is testing for resistance, this battery pack is not supplying voltage to the circuit being tested for resistance.with the ohm meter.

    GSX 250 starter solenoid issue

If the battery is connected to one of the lugs you will not get a valid ohms reading. I mean, how will your ohm meter be able to differentiate between the current supplied by the battery in your ohm from the current supplied by the bike battery. Now if you disconnected the bikes battery from the...

    GSX 250 starter solenoid issue

Just to pick up on what rphillips posted (and good description of what happens inside the solenoid) if you want to measure the condition of the contacts between the plate/washer and the bottom of the two solenoid lugs, with your MM on the 20v dc scale, place your probes on those two solenoid...

as for this intermitant thing you mentioned, check the contacts in your starter button.

    GSX 250 starter solenoid issue

Not sure how you came to th conclusion that the starter solenoid is the issue. Just because it clicks doesn't mean it is the issue. Just because the battery stood at 12.7 volts is good. But what does the battery read while pressing the starter? Ohms don't tell me a lot on heavy amp draws like...

Stator and wiring burn out ? - GS 550et 1980

Good job describing all those tests and the results on the charging bike. I anxiously await your test results on the non-charging bike!

Stator and wiring burn out ? - GS 550et 1980

One other test I didn't see among your tests: Like when you did the AC voltage check at 5000 rpm between A/B, B/C, and A/C (what numbers did you get?) also need to do AC voltage check at 5000 rpm between A to ground, B to ground, and C to ground, looking for very low AC voltage numbers.

Stator and wiring burn out ? - GS 550et 1980

Wow! And weird! All I can suggest is doing some double checking. Good numbers when you checked resistance between the three stator wires and the three wires to ground, Check to see if you get all the same resistance readings with the stator installed. (Hopefully the wires didn't get damaged in...

    Dim taillight Q?

Exactly. The way I read the Suzuki wiring diagrams, all the amps being used have to go through the little switch contacts. (I hope to use the ignition switch contacts to only activate a relay and let the relay handle the load.)

    Mockup of electrical changes

I'm mocking up changes to the left side electrical panel on my 1980 GS750E. My intent is to install my SH775, convert to a blade type fuse block, and install a relay to keep most of those amps from being routed up to the ignition switch and back to the fuse box. My latest version is in the pic...

    Shunt vs Series R/R

Grimly, Thanks for taking the time to type all that in. It's beginning to make more sense to me with your help. I think I need to move on to other issues. Like trying to get the idle circuit sorted on my GS 750E, get my SH775 and new stator installed, along with a relay to keep all the current...
