Thanks for that! I have been running the 90/130 for 5 years now, still using the same H4 globe and replaced the battery 6 months later as it was old and lazy, and about 4 months after that I discovered that the voltage reg was stuffed, replaced it with the shindengen and haven't had any...

    how many alternator amps??

Hi, thank you for the very informative debate ;) I asked my question as I am currently constructing my own custom wiring harness and eliminating the multitude of unused wires. Through broad life experiences with automotive electrical stuff I have learnt to NOT rely on the metal contact...

Thanks for the replies everyone, I figured it was around 13-16 amps :) I am just playing around with some custom wiring looms at the moment and I wanted to make sure I dont under (or over) estimate my needs. I am installing a dual relay to the high and low headlight beams but I have also...

    Lithium Iron motorcycle batteries???

yeah I personally would go for them but I had a friend ask me about them. I have previously used Oddessy batteries successfully in motorbikes and aircraft and I know they last ages, and have low self discharge too :) Was just curious if anyone knew anything about them

    GS1100 Swinger on a 1000 V Stock Steel

the GS750 swing arm bearing is 22 x 29 x 30 and the GS1100 is 25 x 33 x 30 I know, I measured them today :D I am not going to bother machining new spacers to take the 14mm bolt, or source odd size bearings , just going to drill the frame out :D There is still going to be plenty of meat left...

    GS1100 Swinger on a 1000 V Stock Steel

Im confused to what you are saying here?? The axle isnt what needs to be altered it is the swingarm pivot bolt or the swingarm pivot mounting in the motorbike's frame. It is easy to drill it out, I just want to make sure I do it properly, and keep it aligned with the original hole so using...

    GS1100 Swinger on a 1000 V Stock Steel

any chance you could find that article? I have read most of Mick Hone's comments and havent noticed anything about it, plus what the majority have said here has certainly been a positive indication that the alloy swingarm upgrade is worthwhile.

    78 gs750 Air Box Question

I would NOT go to 120 mains, Ive got a 1977 GS750 which is now 850'd and has Boyer CDI ignition, new coils, iridium plugs, 4-1 tranzac exhaust and K&N pods, and the original VM26ss only needed 112.5 mains. I would say 107.5 should be the biggest you need to go for your setup with the K&N panel...

    GS1100 Swinger on a 1000 V Stock Steel

Awesome! Thats the plan to follow then! I have access to a magnetic industrial lineboring drill press which I can use to make sure the holes are drilled on the same line as the existing holes :) Plan sorted! Thanks for the extra info, Im really looking forward to the upgraded rear end!!

    GS1100 Swinger on a 1000 V Stock Steel

Thanks Gearhead! Thats what I thought would be the better way (less machine time making the spacers lol) I noticed on my parts bike frame, that there is a large hunk of solid metal pad on the frame mount so taking 1mm more wouldnt really be an issue :) Did you drill the frame out by hand or...

    GS1100 Swinger on a 1000 V Stock Steel

How did you go with this conversion Salty Monk? I just searched and found this thread because I just fell upon an alloy swingarm from an Aussie GSX1100 ( I think anyway) and its an 82/83 model/ I have compared it to my 1977 GS750 swing arm and it fits in, the only issues that I can see are...
