A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    GS1100E - O-Ring or Not?

Or for a couple of bucks more, you can convert to a 530 series chain and sprockets. This will open up quite a few more options for you and save some weight. Not a ton, a few ponds. I did it on my GS1000S many years ago and have had no problems. Z1 can hook you right up by the way. He's a...

Great story and great job Nate! No pressure and the "baby step" method is a great way to do this. Now just keep her away from Dave! :) :) j/k****

    78 GS1000..how much faster is an 83 1100?

The motor should be astraight swap. I was going to do the same with my 1100>>1000 frame. yes there is a power difference, not HUGE but signifcant. I kept my 1000S and sold the 1100E I had. It was just to...........I don't know.........ugly for me. The earlier GS' had lines that flowed...

    Stroke of genius or sunstroke?

My GS has a clock built in to the guage cluster. And so does the Triumph, BUT that is a cool idea. I would need to do it on my glove gauntlet.

    Anyone running this exhaust?

I thought the spacing of the exhaust ports on the 1000/1100 motor were different? So it wouldn't fit I could be wrong

    Electrical blues

Steve, Ricks motorcycle electrical is in Plaistow. Not on rte 108, the "other Ricks" He does stator and windings for Dennis Kirk by the way. Nice guy, local and does good stuff. So you'll be ready for Moosehead right ?? :)

    Steel grate deck bridge

You did well. Braking downhill on a steel bridge, I would apply more or only the rear brake. This way even if it locks up , the bike can still steer. One other point, my GS has bias ply tires, the Triumph radials, the GS "wanders" , the Triumph doesn't. The tire has a lot to do with this also

    Fork air pressure gauge

Why won't a regular tire pressure guage work? Can't get it onto the schrader valve? Or yours doesn't start off at 1 psi? the local auto parts store probably has one to fit and in your pressure range. By the way, I run 0 psi and 20 weight oil for a smooth ride.

    choke lever relocation?

    Wheel Help

This will alter handling radically. And maybe not for the better. Not many tires made in a a wide width for 21" wheels. And what about the brakes, will you keep the dual disc? Or go with a single? A 19" not enough ?

    4 into 1, who's best

I've had both V&H and Kerkers on my 1000S. Jetting for both was different. The chrome on the V&H seems cheesy compared to the Kerker. I've had the V&H 2 maybe 3 years now and it's showing rust. The Kerker only showed dings. I may need to re-pack the Kerker.

    Motorcycle Pro Shop (vendor)

No idea on service, BUT they have a tire I need for over $60 off!! Guess who I'll try ??

    Re-foaming a seat

Any local upholstery shop can do it. I paid about $100-$125 to have my 1000 seat done. He used triple density, took a few days. Works great.
