A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey Buffalo Bill........good to see you found your engine knock issue. Although that camshaft looks rough it could certainly be a lot worse for sure. As well, I don't think you got a bad deal on your Katana. That engine does not have many miles on it so it will still have lots of life in it...

That is a great compression number Buffalo Bill. If all your cylinders are coming in around the 177 level I would have to say that is quite healthy indeed. How many miles on the bike?

    93-gsx750f

Hi Buffalo Bill, need to say a couple of words here. Just saw this thread and wanted to say that back in March of this year I too found a 1993 GSX 750 (in black) with a motor problem and bought it as well. I haven't dug into to it just yet but will eventually. I don't have anything else to add...

    R/R Dx Success

I like my 1984 GS 750E so much I couldn't resist buying a second this past November. Bringing that one back to life as well, slowly and surely. They are such good bikes for what I need a bike to do. Handle great, really quite flickable, not too heavy, and very nice power. I still giggle like a...

    GS1100E Airbox Installation Frustration

Tourmaster, I have had to remove and install the carbs on my 1984 GS 750E several times in the past. All that was mentioned is very important............needing to have boots that are flexible, a bit of lube to help them slide on, and using some muscle to get them on. On my 750 the battery box...

Confirmation - 750/700 rocker arm interchangability?

kirkn............if it turns out Billy Ricks does not have any I should be able to come up with some from my 1983/84 GS 750E parts bike.

throttle cable routing 85 gs 700e

I have the factory manual for a 1984 GS 750 available to me. There are pages that provide images of proper cable routing in this manual. Although I will not be able to scan a page and email to you I could photocopy and fax if you have a fax number. If you wish to go that way let me know.

    Sticky fork tubes

While you're in there checking things out would be good to ensure the fork tubes are perfectly straight. If the bike's history in unknown it could have had a bit of an incident in the past. Possibly a minor impact ever so slightly bending the fork stanchion(s). Just a thought.........

Rebuilt front brakes binding- Wisdom needed.

Time to check things out again per the comments made up upthread. Also take a look that the dust seals on the caliper pistons are not binding up between the piston and calipers. Where in southern BC are you?

    Removing airbox from bike

I have a 1984 GS 750E - we did get them in Canada that year. Others can chime in and prove me wrong but the air box won't come out unless the engine is removed. Even to get the rack of carbs back on the air box needs to be loosened from its moorings in order for it to be pushed back towards...

Getting an old rebuild running again

Sorry gearhead13 ............... I must have missed your response and query earlier as you started up this thread. I'm a BC guy as well but in the interior.............West Kelowna, BC to be exact.

Getting an old rebuild running again

Dear Mr. gearhead13, from one British Columbian to another................you need to start that baby up. I would even be tempted to just ride it as is and see what it does. Besides, you good folks in Victoria don't get much snow during the winter.......... you could ride almost year round if...

New member with a Doosy of a bike...

Go with what the guys upthread said for now. Spend some time on the oil filter cover................3 new studs and 3 new acorn nuts along with a new oring. In fact, if it was me, and the studs and nuts were holding the cover on nice and tight I'd just go with a new oring. Bet is was pinched...

    750 ES Project

You are going to love that bike once you have it going. I keep on saying it,,,,,,,,and yes Martha I sound like a broken record,,,,,,,but this is the most underestimated model in the GS series covered on this forum. They go like stink and they handle very very well. Let that puppy rev and...

    how much oil 85 gs 700 e

The Suzuki service manual does indicate to have the bike on the centerstand when draining the oil and checking level once the oil has been replaced. Bottom of page 2.7 and top of 2.8 in the "Periodic Maintenance and Tune up Procedure" section. Had to get my son to help me do a somewhat...

..............should have mentioned that your 85 700 oil level will measure up the same as the 84 750.

    how much oil 85 gs 700 e

There are two marks on the cover where the sight glass is located. The oil level should line up with the upper level mark on the cover. Oil level should always be between the lower and upper marks and it is best to keep it at the previously mentioned upper level mark. The measurement should...

    stiff steering

If this were my bike I would for sure replace both tires regardless of what they look like. The rubber has for sure hardened over those 25 years and will not provide a safe ride. Oil change has been done you indicated, and that is another must. Brake fluid should be next on your list along...
