A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Need input on a 83 GS750E.

All of what Griffin said and more. They are just very strong and capable motorcyles. Agile, quick, and quite fast with very good handling manners. For what it's worth, I think they are one of the most understated bikes the GSResource covers...........then again, I do ride one myself. It will...

    GAH!!!! Bike Down!!!

Sorry to hear about this. Not a good way to finish off the year for sure. Your engine will be fine. Make sure the fuel in your tank didn't somehow find its way into the crankcases or the cylinders and it will work. If fuel did leak down into the engine then drain the oil and pull the oil...

    Help with airbox

............uuuhhhh........if I understand you correctly you have the engine mounted to the frame and you are trying to get the air box back in to fit within the frame, right? If the above is what you're trying to do I can tell you that on my 1984 GS 750 E you can't get the air box into, or out...

    RM STATOR on EBAY????

I bought one from them as well and all went as planned. As far as longevity of the unit I would hope it lasts a long time.

    Valve adjustments GS700

I thought I read somewhere you can use a piece of wood dowel (not sure how long you need it to by) with a robertson head screw screwed into the end of it. The robertson head has a "square" as a driver and you use this "square" to fit onto the valve adjuster. I'm going to give it a try next...

    82-550T-getin' da carbs back in?

..........spyug is right. On my 1983 750 as well, the battery box comes out NOT slides back. Then you can slide the air box back a bit which enables you to have more wiggle room to get the carbs back in. Either wd40 or a little water and soap sprayed from an old windex bottle makes the...

    82-550T-getin' da carbs back in?

Buffalo Bill, my 1983 GS 750 is just a bear of a job to get the carbs back on. On my bike I need to loosen the airbox so it'll slide back a bit (1/2" maybe). If memory serves me right, I also need to loosen the battery box behind the air box in order for both to slide back a little. They won't...

    Gaskets for GS 700ES

jwhelan65............if you're looking for just the lower crankcase gaskets such as the stator and clutch covers you could make your own quite easily. Get yourself some gasket paper from an auto parts store outlet and go to it. In fact, if you really want to go cheap cheap cheap you can even...

    Performance parts for the GS550ES

Let me barge in onto this thread for a moment................. I have a 1983 GS 750 parts bike if anyone is interested in the rear suspension/linkage and swingarm. Still on the bike and available. I apologize for the disruption. Carry on with this discussion.

    Crack in stator cover

My 84 GS 750 had a few incidents (read accidents) with previous owner(s) so when I got the bike the stator cover had a bad case of pavement rash. JB Weld came to the rescue - applied on the inside of the cover, then applied on the outside as well. Once the JB Weld dried on the outside of the...

    Which plugs?

Plugs on the 85 700's were D8EA. As Rapdray indicated, it would be best to figure out why your plugs are oiling up before you put in something hotter. You don't want to cook anything with too hot a plug. Make sure your plugs are oil fouled and not gas fouled !!!!

    jumping GS

For sure it would be good to have a better description of what the wheel is doing. Given the list of work you have already performed and assuming the wheel and tire you now have on the bike are good, I would take a peek at ............... wheel bearings, steering head bearings and check the...

    1980 550E Tires

Just like Rockford said. Check out the wheels real close. If they are tubless type rims you'll see the markings.

Those big black round things.........yes, tires

You guys rock with your responses! I didn't think of checking tire age by way of the tire codes................I just went out and took a look................the front has a " 1407 " and the rear has a " 0107 ". So, somewhere around April 2007 is the manufacture date for the front, and January...

Those big black round things.........yes, tires

I appreciate all the responses on this folks. I am rather puzzled on why they would wear that fast................they both are going very fast but that front one is going quicker. I would have expected the rear to wear out first if anything. The tires are wearing out uniformally, no ripples...

Those big black round things.........yes, tires

I have a 1984 GS 750E - all original. This is a new old bike to me. Couple of months ago I switched out tires, new Chen Shin HiMax front and rear. 100/90 - 16 up front and a 130/90 - 17 on the rear. They grip well enough for what I need and figure I'd give them a try...

    Summary - Carburetor Tuning

gaillarry, yes you would screw each little screw in equal amounts to decrease the amount of fuel and air mixture on the CV carburator. Go maybe half turn at a time on all 4 carbs and go from there. As you get closer to where you need to be you may have to turn each screw in 1/4 turn or maybe...
