A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

another first for me... orange gas, and green gas.

and carbs #4 looked like this: I understand the green is probably "Sta Bil"... or a cheap copy. But only in one carb??? How does that happen?

another first for me... orange gas, and green gas.

Drained the bowls on 81 850G. carbs 1,2,3 looked like this : Old and nasty, as expected. I drained gas tank... yellow, not so much orange. MaybeI should say brown but it was sunny outside.

    will a 850G 4:1 fit on my 1000G ?

I called Vance and Hines... guy said "we don't have that much info"... I asked "Does the 12009 and 12005 use the same head/collector, just different muffler? I can work around different hanger location." answer... no. Different part numbers between the 850 and 1000 headers. Game over.

What did you find in your carbs today?

Again, the screw in that hole was NOT missing the tip ! ( I've dealt with broken tips jammed in BS carbs before ) I've found dirt, bugs, main jets floating in my bowls, but someone installed a good screw into a blocked hole? -AND- didn't destroy the good screw... This is a 1st for me.

What did you find in your carbs today?

That's a notch from a single edge razor blade for reference. This broken pilot fuel screw was jammed in the body of my RS36 #1 carb... with a good screw installed ! When I couldn't get carb cleaner to flow through the hole... compressed air popped it up into the carb bore. ( see next pic)

More reading material ! http://www.mikuni.com/fs-tuning_guide.html The last paragraph of the Main Jet page about "roll off" is worth it's weight in gold... or beer. Edit: more info, The Sudco Book: https://blackyninja.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/sudco-mikuni-tuning-manual.pdf

Different plug gap when using Dyna S and green coils vs. stock / points?

Further down in the article mentioned above.: Spark Plugs Racing motors usually require a heat range one colder than stock. We recommend NGK plugs. For a Suzuki GS1100-1150 use a D9EA. For a Kawasaki KZ 900-1000 use a B9ES. With a Dyna-S ignition and aftermarket coils run a gap of .028. If your...

Different plug gap when using Dyna S and green coils vs. stock / points?

Suggestions as to "how far" ??? I just set them to .035" because I was too impatient for an answer. ;-) and... another question. When doing "plug readings"... how do you guys clean them between adjustments? Let the engine take care of it, brake-clean and small brush, something better?

Different plug gap when using Dyna S and green coils vs. stock / points?

Title says it all... Stick to the .024" - .031" (stock), or open them up a bit more?

RS36 carb rebuild guide / video?

There are a few amazing VM and BS guides around here. Or @ Basscliff. I can't find one for the RS carbs. ( I cleaned them once already, found previous owner did some weird things, like disable the accelerator pumps... I need to start over from "fresh out of the box".) Any suggestions? Any...

Coil Brackets - Electrical Conduit Two-Hole Straps

Good save ! If someone else has a hard time getting "other" coils to fit... don't cut the bracket off completely. try cutting the meat out from between the two mount holes: Didi I make a posting about this already? memory failing.... first sign of " Ol' timers" !

What I do wrong THIS time ???

no, I am using the wrong carbs for my bike. Stock was the big barrel-type end.

What I do wrong THIS time ???

If I move the bracket over to the next carb, it will be too close.

What I do wrong THIS time ???

I ordered the choke cable with the correct pin-type end on it, to fit through the bracket. And.... it's about 2" too short. - in the picture, the red arrow is the cable end, the green arrow is where it needs to go. (82 GS1100GK carbs on my 80 GS1000G)

Jet suggestions for pods, Kerker and Web cams #118

I believe these came from a 82 1100GK, an 8 valve motor. ( unless I read the chart wrong. carb bodies # 49400 ) cams degree'ed? um... I have changed the head since I bought the bike, so even if it was done when the cams went in, I guess the correct answer is "no". But I talked about it...
