    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    D Jet kit GS550

    Installed the Dyna Jet kit in my 1980 GS550E as per instructions. It starts good but will not idle on its own without help. It is GREAT 3000 and up but pig rich on the idle circuit. The jet kit had restrictors that glue inside of the air bleeds on the bell . It has pods with V&H 4 into one...

    Front wheel lift

    Be careful..bottle jacks can loose their pressure and 'fall' down and bring the bike down with it. If left overnight it is good practice to add some security under there with the jack. Sissor jacks are mechanical and don't 'fall' under pressure over time. Screw jacks will work good too. Most...

    using studs for valve cover

    Thanks to everyone who responded. I will give an update after I install the studs. Ray , I will check the breather..I don't think it is pluged BUT that is the only part I havn't addressed. I like the idea of a small baffel to direct the oil away from the front of the cover. I will see what I...

    using studs for valve cover

    What he said.. I have surfaced the valve cover .003 to ensure that it is flat..New OEM gaskets X 4 trys now. Tried different brands of cover gaskets...tried different covers as well. The cam chain and gear in the front just slings oil right at that joint seam. I have changed out the 'O' rings...

    using studs for valve cover

    Has anyone tried using studs inplace of the bolts for the valve cover ? I feel I am ready to try this to help stop the oil from seeping in the front center area of the cover. I would only use them in the two center bolts (20 bolt cover) . I Just believe this will give more clamping force in...

    Nitrous street 1166

    It looks like those valves were back cut using a lathe, and that is ok. I always use a valve grinding machine with a stone wheel. Much smoother cut. You are ok Nicholas..use 'em. As Ray says..Stainless valves nextime. Terry

    Front wheel lift

    That is very cool indeed. I am impressed with your skills. I just use a sissor jack under the exhaust down tubes with a 2X4 between jack and header tubes. It will lift the front end easily ,..no harm to the exhaust. done this for years on several bikes. If you have a 4 into 1 exhaust just...

    'Real Gasket' Valve cover

    Thanks Steve and Basscliff,...just about what I thought. Yes my drive is in the valve cover..'81 GS1100EX. I will have to try to seal that area with OEM cover gasket. I did replace the 'O' rings on the two center head bolts hopefully that will slow down the oil some. Sure wish Suzuki had...

    'Real Gasket' Valve cover

    Has anyone tried the rubber (RTV) gasket from Real Gasket ? I would be concerned that it might compress more than the factory gasket and mesh the tach drive gear too much 'into' the drive gear on the exhaust cam. Or..not enough mesh if not compressed enough. Just looks like it would be hard...

    DJ main jet conversion to Mikuni jet numbers

    Does anyone know the formula to convert from DJ main jet numbers to the equivalent jet size for Mikuni main jets ? Could not find that in Basscliff's site. Thanks.

    530 Chain conversion

    I have converted my '81 GS1100EX and my '85 GS1150EF both to 530 chain and sprocket setups. Couldn't be happier with the 530. And NO..it isn't your imagination about the smoothness and the power. Yes mine was 9.25 lbs lighter chain and sprockets together. But that weight isn't just poundage...

    pods for '80 GS550E

    I have a set of pods that came with my 1980 GS550E when I received it from PO. Two are std length and two are shorter much shorter, to clear the frame down tubes for the outside (1 & 4) carbs. Are all sets like this or does anyone sell a set that are all the same length. Don't really want...

    GS1100E performance

    The GS's were on the lean side from the factory (EPA), and a good scavaging pipe will lean it out even more. If it was running ok then you are good I am sure. If you had any holes in your pistons you would know it by now. Ever see bikes that had aftermarket exhaust systems and the head pipes...
