A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    650 gs carbs...Steve?

The BS32 Mikuni's on my GS650g have " Mikuni Kogyo Co LTD Japan" on the CV tops. I believe that at least the GS550's used the same carbs. Perhaps some other models as well but with different rack spacing? Evidently, they were also used on Kawasaki CSR and maybe a Yamaha.

r/r questions: how to find out if r/r is series or shunt?

I believe that the SH775 was something like $45 directly from Polaris about 6-7 years ago. They must have caught wind of what people were buying them for and kept raising the price. I know there had been much discussion on the Stromtrooper forums about them at the time. Some folks initially...

    Cycleorings has ceased operation

Robert, very best of luck with the difficult battle. It sounds like you are in good hands. Many of us , including myself, have beat it at least once.

Sold my 1982 GS650g and missing it!

streetgs, I hope that you can locate a suitable GS650G. There's a bit more I want to do to mine as I ride it. I wore out a set of Bridgestones in a year and a half. I recently put a new rear BT46 on it and have a new Avon RR II to go on the front. I'll likely have to give up mine next year...

Which year did shim adjustments quit

It's not an inline four, but the Suzuki DL650 V-Strom L-twin used shim under bucket. I believe the DL1000 V-Strom used the shim over bucket. This was on the first gen models 04-11 DL650 and 03-12 DL1000. I don't know if that changed on later models. The next gen GL650 used a somewhat different...

UJMs FOR SALE IN MOTHER LAND

Great link! I found 3 GS750G's. Japan home market only bikes. About $6800 to $11800 US. One of them is a GL variety, which I didn't think they sold in Japan.

    Bad gas

It used to be common quite some years ago for unscrupulous gas station owners to pump water into their underground tanks. They did so when they were out or nearly so. Evidently it would float some small amount of gasoline left in there that the pickup wasn't getting. At some point a customer...

    Rectifier mounting !location

A much different set up, but on my GS650g I was just able to mount the SH775 to the bottom of the battery box using the same mounting as Suzuki. With the compact drive system on that bike it would have taken some remote location otherwise. Mad, is your Shindengen a SH775 or a SH847? I know that...

    How to shop tires

The 2 digit number refers to a load rating index. Higher number is higher weight capacity. The letter, like "H", is that tire's speed rating. There are many. H= 130 mph rating, a minimal rating for street motorcycles. Of the two examples, assuming they're the same size, is the lower rated one a...

    How to shop tires

grcamma2, Yes it is. I purchased one from Dennis Kirk online early this year. That was one of the lower prices I saw for it. I have found that not all tire sellers have the 120/90/17 BT46 rear listed, including some of the larger ones. I think I paid about $126. with free shipping.

    I had a crash...a big one!

That seems very accurate. I have known of a few people on both sides of the fault blame who sued or were sued. If the at fault had little or had real junk insurance there is essentially nothing. Although judgements never expire, I have seen people who keep everything they own in someone else's...

    How to shop tires

Those correct sizes for the GS650G seem to get harder to get all the time. Avon seems to have dropped the AM26 Roadrider sometime last year. They have one they now call the Roadrider MkII. No alpha-numeric brand that I have seen. The 100/90/19 is an easy size to find from many brands making...

    GS650 oil pan gasket

I was surprised to see that the GS650G/L oil pan gasket is NLA. ( at Suzuki). I double checked at Partzilla, which seems to stay right up to date on availability. I had bought a couple of them late 2019. Evidently they still have the early '81 cam cover gasket, but the much more common later '81...

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Festival 2018! July 6th 7th 8th!

I made it there one time, in 2008. Rode my '72 airhead from eastern Pa. Real big crowds then. Watched a lot of the (then) AHMRA track racing and walked all the dealer grids. I had a camping pass with my weekend ticket. They weren't supposed to allow anyone into reserved camping until 9:00 am on...

Petcock questions for my '81 GS650GT and unrelated? fuel leak.

Thanks for the info and inputs, gents! Grimley, thanks for the photo. It does seem that my current petcock is working properly. I started it up today and didn't have an overflow leak. On looking at photos of the the '82 style oem and aftermarket ones, it does appear that you could remove the 4...

Petcock questions for my '81 GS650GT and unrelated? fuel leak.

This past evening I was determined to get a ride in for the first time in several days on my '81 GS650G. 95F heat. Since it was so hot, I first tried starting without choke. Sputtered a bit but wouldn't idle. Tried choke and started but ran unevenly, not normal. In a short while I noticed...
