A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Tarozzi rearset owners: rubber or knurled metal?

I bought the knurled aluminum ones and didnt care for them. They felt slippery and seemed to have more vibration. I brought the rubber covers separately and they fit over the pegs. I liked them much better with the rubber covers.

Source for rearsets for GS1100? Anyone make a reasonable bolt-on set?

I've got a set on my 82. Built well and easy to install. About the only small improvement I'd make is the shift peg diameter is larger than I care for.

How rare is this GS Resource sticker?

    I'd buy a few.

Tapping noise coming from engine at 4000 RPM - Suzuki GS550ES

Could be lean letting. After it makes the noise try pulling the plugs and look at the color. It may be an exhaust gasket leak, they sometimes make some funny tapping noise.

Has anyone used a Delkevic header on an 82gs1100E

They fit good and work good without the little baffle... but a little loud.

Digital Tach Question. Show me what you have please.

I think a late model gs500 tach is about the correct size. With some work I think it could be made to fit in the gs1100 cluster. The wiring looks like it may feed from one of two coils on the 500, if so, it should read correctly. However I haven't confirmed if the 500 uses 1 or 2 coils.

Shift light who uses one and where did you get yours?

Proform makes an inexpensive stand alone shift light that you can buy pretty cheap. I used one on a built KTM powered quad. Although it really wasn't sealed, it didn't seem to mind water. MSD makes a pricier one that's brighter and built more solid. It's nice to have them so you can see when...

82 1100E gets erratic when hot

Might check your coils. Electrical stuff can get wonky as it heats up, especially the coils.

    What size is my nut?

Thanks guys I'll check to see if I've got a 32mm socket, if not I'll use it as an excuse to go to harbor freight.

    What size is my nut?

I haven't pulled the cover yet but wanted to try putting on a smaller sprocket this weekend and needed to be sure I had the right size socket.

    What size is my nut?

What size is the nut that holds the sprocket on the transmission?

    1981 GS550L Looking for 16" Front Wheel

I might have one from a gs1150 in my garage if you're interested.

    1985 gs 700e led blinkers

You might try reversing the leads on the rear signals as LEDs only work with the proper polarity.

    1982 GS850L- Cluthc is Out!

If the metal plates haven't been overheated (they'll be blue or black) and they are flat (lay them on a flat surface), you can re-use them. Having said that, I have also re-used metals that were a little discolored when I was short on cash or time. I took a sheet of fine sand paper, laid I'd...

    Pipe header colour puzzler !

Mine are the same, and I know that my a/f is spot on thruout the rpm/throttle position range (except from about 5000-6500 or so, then it's rich...durn 4-1 header flat spot). The Delkevic uses a rather thin tubing which colors pretty quickly, and by nature of airflow the cylinders 2-3 will run...

    Higher Rpm wall/cutting out

Sometimes you can just remove the air box lid untill you get the correct (smaller) jets installed.

Bike bogs down while running in 2nd gear

It seems normal. Your rpms are too low and the engine is lugging. Those little 250s they trained you on are geared allot lower and they are a little lighter. It'll just take a little getting used to your bike.

    If not jetting, then what?

I have a wideband set up on my gs1100, and it's a terrific tool for tuning. It's weak point is that it takes an average a/f measurement for all four cylinders, and that can sometimes drive you a little crazy. An example is, I was tuning one of the other member's bike and the readings showed...

Pilot screw turns: the saga continues

Ok, don't believe me. The Factory Pro sequence assumes you're in the ballpark with your pilot jet (and you're using the correct style), along with a needle with a correct taper. The main jet has almost 0 effect on your idle and low rpms/small throttle openings. But carry on, I'm just trying to...

Pilot screw turns: the saga continues

You could put a 250 main jet in there and it would have no effect on idle or any throttle position under 1/2 . If you're having idle probs and low rpm probs, changing the main jets is just giving your screwdriver a workout.
