DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Spark Plugs 1980 GS1000gt

No! Regardless of sparkplug type their fitment cannot affect the carb sync. More likely one of your plugs are faulty or you have another issue.

    Fuel site tube/glass mod

A few bikes had it from the factory such as the Suzuki T200 invader but most are done on custom builds and are a gimic which just introduces more chances of fuel leaks. It's easy enough to retro fit something similar to any fuel tank if you know what you are doing.

    Ignitor unit and dynatek question

The dyna is a stand alone unit and usually replaces points ignition. It can be used on your G but it does not use the Suzuki ignitor and you will also need to use 3 to 5 ohm coils.

    1980 Suzuki GSX400 Choke issues

Having to give it throttle ( more air ) with the choke ( enrichener ) closed indicates it is getting too much fuel.

    Pilot Mixture Screw Consequences

Usually between 1-1/4 and 1-3/4 turns out from lightly seated but you should look at the specs for your particular model for the exact recommended settings.

    Pilot Mixture Screw Consequences

Rich or lean mixture at idle up to around 2000 rpm.. Above that the discrepancy has a lessening effect and feathers out as the jet needle, needle jet and main jet adds to the fueling curve..

    Still not right, FFS.

You only need air correctors if running open carbs, pods, stacks or an airbox that has been cut or modified and offers virtually no restriction. They cure the off idle bogging / hesitation and need no other carb changes except a small increase of the main jet. In some cases such as the Yamaha...

    Still not right, FFS.

The "ringed" vents MUST be left open to atmosphere. The other on #3 carb is vac line to the fuel tap and must be capped if not in use for a vaccum tap. Put your needle clip position and main jet back to stock . The rebore and exhaust should need no jetting changes. Open airbox would require air...

'83 1100E cylinder bores look machine sanded?

Bores don't get polished after being bored. They get honed which leaves a cross hatch pattern and yours look like fresh honing either after a rebore or just glaze busting for fresh rings on re-used pistons in the original bores. Glaze busting may not remove all the previous running or corrosion...

    VM22SS pilot screws question

From new the tips do protrude into the venturi slightly when fully seated. Even if the holes appear to be enlarged the screws will still meter the fuel. Just lightly seat them and adjust as normal. Any of the outlets that really are actually larger will flow more fuel for the same amount of...

    VM22SS pilot screws question

AIR screws on the side are blunt ended but the FUEL screws underneath are always pointed unless they have been broken , messed with or possibly poor aftermarket replacments. I've been building ,repairing and modifying VM slide carbs for over 40 years and never seen original Mikuni VM fuel screws...

    VM22SS pilot screws question

The fuel screws are all the same and should have a sharp point. The less pointed ones are damaged and the broken tip may still be blocking the pilot outlet. The holes in the carb bodies do not come in different sizes unless they are corroded or have become enlarged due to a PO's attempt at...

    1978 400C losing power at 80mph

Are those plugs tan after a high speed plug chop or just when you have checked them when you have stopped after a ride. Unless it was a plug chop the colour of the plugs only indicates the running conditions at idle. There's a chance that the mixture is too rich at the top end which will cause...

    VM26's on cv34 cylinder head

Adaptor plates ( if needed ) would have to be made as they are not a "thing" readily available off the shelf. I made the ones below to allow the use of GSX1000S Katana vm32ss oval bores which are spaced differently to stock VM's.
