A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1980 GS450L not starting

that's the way i usually do it, too. chunk #1, starter works. You proved that by shorting the solenoid terminals and engine cranking. Next suspect is the solenoid. Like i said, using the green/yellow wire is a nice quick test for that. If that works, the issue is in the cabling.

    1980 GS450L not starting

no ... because you bypassed the solenoid by shorting the poles :)

Maximum tyre sizes for a spoked wheeled GS1000S

just fyi ... you may need a 5mm spacer for the rear brake rotor. Or, IIRC if you use the spoke rear wheel with the spacer from the mag wheels it's fine.

    1980 GS450L not starting

First thing for me would be to solve the starter solenoid issue, so the bike will at least crank. One issue at a time ... There should be a green/yellow wire on the solenoid, with a bullet connector. Disconnect that. Press the bullet connector to the solenoid terminal that has the connection to...

    Fork oil leak

Agree with Brian, if you have the tools it can be done in approx. 2 hours. When i do not have the right seal driver i use the old oil seal on top of the new one so i can tap the oil seal in without fear of damaging the new one. I usually rub the brake pads on a piece of sanding paper if...

    GS550 Gasket Set

I prefer OEM. But have had success with Athena, no issues. Would be nice if a cause were found before trying again. How did this start, after the rebuild ? I take it the oil leak was not immediate. Was it hard to start or did it run well at first ? Where is the oil leak, maybe there's a clue...

    Fork oil leak

I have seen that before multiple times. Like you, i do not understand how it is possible. When in use, yes. But after weeks of standing still ... ????????

GS1000SN left handlebar switch not returning to middle position

i sold the only bike i had with this TSCU setup ... my other GS1000 and GS1000S bikes have the simple setup. New owner had issues with the turn signals. Would have liked to troubleshoot further but for now he just wants the blinkers to work. After disconnecting the speed sensor it now works...

    1981 GSX1100 Katana Based Project

Is that the original front fender (with *heavy* u-shaped inside bracket) ? I know you want to keep the OEM Katana look, but have you considered something like the CB1100F front fender ? Much lighter, and the scoop should help cooling. Larry nvr2old used that on his S, imho looks super.

GS1000SN left handlebar switch not returning to middle position

1979 GS1000SN, with TSCU and left handlebar switch that has the manual push down to cancel switch. Pushing down system works, but after pushing the lever L or R it does not return to the middle position. The manual states it should. Does anyone see/know what makes the lever return ? I have a...

    Starter motor rebuild

I did not ask you to repeat yourself, i asked for clarification. I think you meant to say why you want that was not YOUR question ... correct, it was mine. You just do not feel like explaining. Well that is your perogative. I cannot "imagine all starters have gone" .... we are not there yet...

HELP! No pressure on brake lever after removing banjo bolt

I like new stuff, but rebuild kits are usually incomplete, wrong size and expensive. Since you had pressure before, i'd guess there's still air trapped. I had something like that and used 8 or 10 banjo rings to screw the banjo in the MC. That way i could test the MC itself, without having to...
