A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How to cut a paper gasket

^^^ that is how I do it too. Using sheet gasket material, I spray a light coating of wd 40 on the part, then set it down on the gasket material. The wetness leaves behind the exact shape of the part whichI then cut out with a razor knife. I have die cutters for the bolt holes.

Spent some time in the "man-cave" - From Wreck to Restoration

Excellent! It should be real nice once again! Now don't go throwing it around when it's back together, OK?

Give me clues about full throttle.

I agree with the main jet theory above, but also think it can be a number of things. Keep in mind these CV carbs are a little slow to respond between the slow and fast carb circuits. At least that was always my experience. Both my bikes with CV carbs and pretty much stock jetting would not go...

    Favorite Tank Bag?

I have a love hate relationship with tank bags. I hate having anything up there, but it's so amazingly handy to have. That is why I use an "anti" tank bag. It's tiny, but fits everything I need: It's a Cortech Super Mini-...

to fender or not to fender

I will never forget the first day I rode in the rain on my FZ1 after I put the "Fender Eliminator" kit on the back... Let's just say that you would not want to ride behind me with the 190 wide tire and no rear fender... love the look, but man alive how stupid those fender eliminator kits are in...

That SUCKS dude, but at least you are working. That is better than most and you'll still be at Moosehead. Maybe the next time you are able to do the Cabot, I'll be able to join you:p Can't wait to get back up there on a bike.

Yeah, chain drive 850 is actually a 750 in either E or T trim. Same mill, so, pretty easy to do.

    Rt 2/2A in MA

I drove that route about 200 times in my life. My girlfriend went to UMass when I lived in Harvard. It's only mildly better than 90. You'll be on a four lane highway until Phillipston, at which point it becomes a two lane with a divided barrier that you can't pass on. It sucks. You want an...

    Fun weekend to go boom!

That tent looks very nice! I hear ya about the pack size, which is dictated by the pole length. I always pack my tent in a compression sack, and the poles get packed separately. I never use the stuff sack it comes in, a compression sack get's it so much smaller. But still, if the poles are too...

    Fun weekend to go boom!

Ouch, looks like a miserable route of all slab... As far as a tent, I highly suggest a lightweight dome tent. Domes are the most efficient shape for shedding weather of all types, that's why all the hardcore 4 season mountain tents are built that way. And it's worth it to actually spend a bit...

Fuel line trick- fuel filter safety problem

Oh, I didn't read Ricks post before I first responded, which I agree with 100%. Ridden many, many years on GS bikes without an accessory filter.
