A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Will prime work with reserve fuel level?

So I'm curious if the prime setting will also work when the fuel level is too low for the on position, and only the reserve position works? On an 82 750

    On/off switch for headlight, taillight

You seem to be illiterate, do you see anywhere that anyone asked about insurance or pulling fuses? You've got something wrong with your brain

    On/off switch for headlight, taillight

Sounds like the fuse to your brain has been pulled

    On/off switch for headlight, taillight

I wonder what year they eliminated the switch altogether because my 82 doesn't have it

    On/off switch for headlight, taillight

Yeah I don't like it either, especially with all the troubleshooting I've had to do it's annoying to have it on constantly. I had it where I was having trouble with it stalling and the first time I started it after rebuilding the carb I let it idle for like 5 minutes and then went inside and...

    On/off switch for headlight, taillight

Right lol, I'd imagine that's a sought after feature in the crotch rocket crowd. That along with their flip up license plates. I'm wondering if anyone with a tscc era gs has wired in a switch like your older one has.

    On/off switch for headlight, taillight

Has anyone wired in an on/off switch for the headlight and taillight? Not a fan of them always being on anytime the ignition on my 82 750t is on

GS750 engine noise at high rpm

Your comment about the levers rattling did get me thinking about it possibly being something peripheral instead of the motor though so thanks!

GS750 engine noise at high rpm

Haha yep it definitely was disturbingly loud, I put off even looking at it for days because I was dreading it being something bad.

GS750 engine noise at high rpm

Thanks I appreciate that, yep I should've thought of the simple stuff first, I've got years of experience working on cars but none working on motorcycles so it's definitely a bit more of a learning curve than other vehicles I've bought. I'm just relieved that something simple and that I'll be...

GS750 engine noise at high rpm

Ha true. That's too bad they broke completely like that, I hope you were able to find new shields for not too much money, I was able to get the middle section of pipes off of ebay for pretty cheap as mine were totally rusted out. That might be a good place to look for some used ones.

GS750 engine noise at high rpm

Well I used my stethoscope and figured out where the rattle is coming from. Not a loose timing chain, or a catastrophic engine failure, but a...wait for it...loose exhaust heat shield lol. I psyched myself out for nothing. It sounded like it was coming from the top of the engine and then with...

GS750 engine noise at high rpm

I'll try that and use my stethoscope and report back

GS750 engine noise at high rpm

I looked for anything loose but couldn't find anything. I have an automotive stethoscope I'll have to try and pinpoint where it's coming from

GS750 engine noise at high rpm

I removed the worm gear and the sound was still present. One of the videos was taken with it removed I checked the valve lash a couple months ago and everything was good. The cam chain looked normal, I didn't pull the tensioner. I've had the bike for just over a year and put about 500 miles on...

GS750 engine noise at high rpm

So unfortunately my 82 gs750 has started making a scary noise when it's revved past ~4k rpm. I took a couple videos of it that I'll post below. The tach cable had just broken so I replaced it and then noticed it making this noise. Thinking it had something to do with the new cable I took it off...

    Bike stalls after 5 minutes

So I figured out the problem, I had gas in the oil and it was vaporizing when hot and passing back into the combustion chambers and running rich. Changed the oil and the problem is completely gone. Rode for an hour Wednesday and ran perfect. Thanks for the comment though it was a perplexing...

    Carb-airbox boots won't stay on?

True lol. If they didn't want that then they shouldn't have made them so damn well! another little tip, I used my heat gun on its hottest setting but make sure to keep it moving so it doesn't heat up any one area too much, if it starts to turn shiny it's too hot.

    Carb-airbox boots won't stay on?

Yep exactly. It's really not a great design because there is zero support in the middle of this large plastic box. A couple of abutments in the middle would have prevented that, surprised the Japs didn't think of that they seem to think of everything else.
