A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi Rickard and Welcome As you may have noticed there's a lot of good information on this site. Try to find the Top Newbie Mistakes page it's well worth spending the time reading. The 850 appears to be reasonably complete. That's a real good start. A well sorted GS will gives years of...

    89' GN250 to a 82' GS650gl

Hi Chubby and Welcome +1 on the riders course. I'd been riding for 40+ years (on and off) when I had the opportunity to attend a 1 day intermediate riders course. That's when I learned what it was about safe riding that I did not know. Marvellous! As the old adage goes - 'We don't know, what...

    Ignition Coils

Thanks for the info regarding '95 Katana style coils. I've been looking into this as a viable option although I do not have an after market electronic ignition system (yet). Do you know if these coils would be suitable as a direct replacement with the stock TDI system?

    Ignition Coils

Hi Folks 1980 GS 1000 G I'm at the point in my bike rebuild where I'm checking/installing the electrics. I tend to check and inspect as much as possible 'on the bench' before installation. After the wiring loom installation it is time to check/install the ignition coils. So I've checked the...

    Carburettor "Clamp"

Thanks Nessism - BRILLIANT!. That's the manual that I needed. All the other manuals I have either don't address this or the images are way too dark to make any sense.

    Carburettor "Clamp"

G'Day GSR Folks I'm still plodding along with my 1980 GS1000G (T) refurbishment. A couple of days ago, I started some final work on the carbs and came across a small conundrum. There's an item known as a "clamp" (according to the Suzuki parts fiche). My issue is I can't work out where this...

    Gear Selector Forks

RESOLVED!! Just a follow up one this post. I was able to find some images on a separate hard drive of the gear selector layout before disassembly. It turns out, according to those images taken from various angles, I had nothing to worry about. So nothing to see here folks. As we used to say...

    Gear Selector Forks

Thanks for the image Baatfam but the setup has some variations by the look of it. Can't quite see if the forks have a size variation on shaft No 2. The springs on that shaft look like a good improvement though.

    Gear Selector Forks

Hi Folk Noob question here. It's time to commence the reassembly of my 1980 GS1000G. During the disassembly process I took a lot photos to assist during the reassembly process. BUT - it turns out my images of the transmission gear selector forks could have been taken at better angles. I now...

    Greetings from Melbourne Australia

Hi Folks - as my account description states, I'm a 'former lurker' here at the GSR. Like so many others I've been able to get a wealth of valuable information from this site which has helped a great deal with my project so far. I purchased a 1980 GS1000G around 2012 with the intention of doing...
