    GS1000 valve seats

Where did you get those valves at? Were they intended for the GS heads? I'm going to guess maybe Nick @ Suzuki Performance Spares?

Cruzin Image GS400 Big Bore- Fit GS425?

Wow, that's CHEAP! Yes, that should work just fine as long as they are stock GS850 piston designs. They look to be. The GS650 big bore kit they sell is apparently just stock GS750 pistons, and has sane disclaimer "not design of original Suzuki pistons," and unfortunately are 100% not compatible...

It runs! Gs550/650 Top end swap w/pics

Different engines are machined at slightly different tolerances, you might find some that have barely enough clearance to not have noticeable interference, but Don and I have measured several engines, and it's quite uniform that all 650 top ends on 550 engines need a slightly thicker head gasket...

    spoked wheels for a 650

Are not the same spoke count as a GS wheel though, I believe they are 40 spokes? So you have to either run the stock Madura rim or aftermarket.

    spoked wheels for a 650

FYI A GS450A automatic trans model came with a wire spoke shaft drive rear wheel... But I'm guessing it was a drum break, I can't remember it's been many years since I saw one. And the drum would probably be a bit small for middleweight 650. The Madura wheels would definitely be the ticket.

It runs! Gs550/650 Top end swap w/pics

Suzuki_Don had a pretty involved writeup after his initial 673 build. The title of the write-up was more of a troubleshooting thing trying to figure out a noise after the swap, which led him to discover the deck heights were different and a 650 top end on a 550 required thicker head gasket or...

Cruzin Image GS400 Big Bore- Fit GS425?

See where this is going? Two stock bore GS850 pistons bored into a '77-'79 GS400/425 will give you 449cc "big bore kit." You'll have to check the actual cylinder sleeve wall thicknes of the 425, but you might be able to bore +1.0mm oversized GS850 pistons into a GS425 cylinder. Also...

Cruzin Image GS400 Big Bore- Fit GS425?

GS425 pistons are just a 2mm overbore size of a GS400 1977-1978 piston. 1977-1978 GS400 stock bore 65mm pistons are the same EXACT piston as the GS750 8V (2V/cylinder) pistons. GS850 pistons are 69mm and otherwise exactly the same as all 77-79 GS750 pistons, but 4mm larger bore. GS850...

GS850 running poorly - troubleshooting igniter and coils?

The original bike owned by GSOH (Alex) who chimed in above in 2013, got sidelined due to him starting a family. I parted out an 850 since then and saved the carbs for him, but he hasn't gotten back to bikes other than refusing me every single time I try to get him to sell me his '79 GS425! The...

Tool for adjusting pilot fuel screw?

Here ya go, this is what I was thinking of, I'd seen a set of these on rack of VM28 Z1R or KZ1000 carbs I'd picked up a little while back. Extended screw head with knurling & flathead slot. Plus you get a proper o-ring, the most common o-ring needing replaced in these carbs...

Tool for adjusting pilot fuel screw?

Certain Kawasaki KZ1000 or maybe z1r models around 1977 - 1979 used a VM 26 or actually VM28(?) with the fuel screw on the bottom and had a knurled extension that hung down below so that you could just grab them and turn them with your fingers, from what I'm recalling. I meant to track down some...

Tool for adjusting pilot fuel screw?

I also have that setup for the VM fuel screws, along with a modified Motion Pro right angle cable drive screwdriver, and modified Harbor Freight micro sized thumb screwdrivers. The Motion Pro right angle screwdriver works significantly better on a hot engine as to not burn yourself, but it is...

Tool for adjusting pilot fuel screw?

Same here, the tiny Harbor Freight or Tektron mini stubby screwdrivers with the handle shaved down a bit. I also have a Motion Pro cable operated 90? screwdriver for Honda carbs slightly modified to fit GS/KZ VM carbs

    Base and head gaskets

Well I see some updates on the availability of some of these parts that are supposedly no longer available. Partzilla just lists them as unavailable, but now started showing an ETA on some critical parts, like the GS1100G/GS1000/GS850 MLS head gasket. It now shows an estimated arrival of $255...

    GS 1000 gaskets

From a phone call, but that was a year or two ago. Paper gaskets they told me are no problem, they can cut them immediately or on short order if any alterations need made to the standard shape/size The cfm composite head gaskets take a bit longer.

Potential Group Purchase - Wiseco GS650 741cc pistons

Yes, cam sprockets from 550 or GS650E cams, NOT GS650G cams. thicker custom head gasket ot base gasket. I may have a big bore gasket to spare that didn't meet my specs, I cant remember if I sent them all back or not. Cometic can make a custom thicker base gasket, but the oil pressure o-rings...

    Gs500/550 1979 with Bandit swingarm

And if your 550 is a drum brake, you just need to swap to disc brake components and wheel, or else TIG weld a brake stay mount on the underside of the swingarm. Lastly, the GS1100E is a big bore powerhouse, so the swingarm is still slightly longer than a GS750 swinger, and a bit longer again...

    Gs500/550 1979 with Bandit swingarm

Absolutely. There's a 2mm difference in swingarm bolt diameter though so you need a 1mm sleeve bushing made up to adapt unless you have a machinist enlarge the holes in the frame. Don't try it with a handheld drill unless you rig up a verry accurate guideor ha vs e some incredibly long reamer...

Potential Group Purchase - Wiseco GS650 741cc pistons

I hope I caught you in time, do not buy that Cruizin Image kit. Although they make some great pistons for other applications, this was a huge blunder on their part. These are basically just GS750 stock bore pistons and have only the correct pin size and compression height to fit a 650 or 550...
